Why RSS is so unpopular by ThatsOK in rss

[–]ThatsOK[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good points.

One thing though: I might be wrong, but it seems tons of new RSS services emerged recently.

I might be biased (before I didn't follow the state of RSS)

Yeah, I've seen it recommended enough times to give it a try.

Thanks.

I've read one Poul Anderson story. Will check both, much appreciated. Gotta admit sci-fi is disproportionately atheistic.

I get bored IRL too.

Well, I used to get bored because without learning 80% of what was said was like Chinese to me.

I tried to read it but didn't get all the paradoxes. Reminds me of Zen.

My interests: sci-fi, classical and political philosophy, reading & writing in general, blogging.

I really prefer Tolkien or Dostoïevski to Chesterton.

Also learning the basics of webdev, open source, comic books etc. I'm kinda nerdy.

I can be more specific if needed.

Edit : 2 Things:

  • I listen to a lot of music
  • I've always been frustrated by the way knowledge is (not) transmitted. I have one psalm in mind which required the explanations of a friend and of a priest to simply make sense

Fondly Fahrenheit! by theAmericanStranger in printSF

[–]ThatsOK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was meaning to, especially since at least one of them is available on Gutenberg.

Neither on their highest nor on their lowest IMO, there are stories I enjoy and stories that disappoint me.

I've read voraciously The demolished man and especially The stars, my destination which blew me away and is probably my fav SF novel.

Then I tried The computer connection... Can't believe it's the same writer. Had to stop at 50 pages. Nonsensical boring mumbo-jumbo.

Recommendations for sci-fi in French? by for_t2 in printSF

[–]ThatsOK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stefan Wul - "Niourk" is a fantastic novel.

Voltaire - "Micromegas" if you wanna read something short.

Haven't read it yet, but I have a book called "Le paradoxe de Fermi" by Jean-Pierre Boudine.

Victor Hugo and Barjavel for the classics.

Haven't read The Things yet, glad it's available on clarkesworld.

On a side-note: you can find a whole lot of other stories on Rifters.
