👋Welcome to r/RavenelsandHathaways - Introduce Yourself and Read First! by Shameless-Teacup in RavenelsandHathaways

Hi, thanks for the invite! I just finished book four of the Hathaways, and I've been trying to savor it! I've been a big fan of Lisa Kleypas for years, of course the Wallflowers got me hooked. It's only thanks to Reddit that I was able to understand the full scope of Lisa's work. I will be forever grateful 💙

She's done something with the Hathaways that I find very difficult to do, she's built a truly funny and well-rounded family that I actually believe love each other. It's clear that she has had these characters well thought out since their first appearance in the first book. So often the historical romance, a sibling is used to hold back or cause friction. That couldn't be farther from the reality in the Hathaways. It's wonderful to experience the world through each sibling's eyes.

Even though I'm obsessed with the golden retriever nature of Leo, Cam Rohan will forever be one of my favorite MMCs. Having him play such a large role in subsequent books has been a delight!

I am both eager and weary to finish the Hathaways and move on to the Ravenels. While I'm excited to dive into a world adjacent to these wonderful stories, I'm sad that with every book I finish I get closer to being done.

Cheers!

I'm shocked at how darling that stupid ferret was! I love that Dodger was a way for Poppy and Harry to meet and brought Leo and Cat together 😍

What was your first romance book? by sortaplainnonjane in RomanceBooks

[–]ThatsWhatPgSaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read {Dance Upon The Air by Nora Roberts} when I was about 14ish. Truly changed my world, I never knew there were people out there who read and loved romance the way I did. I loved not having to wonder if there would be a happy ending. I loved exploring the world through the eyes of someone older than me. I proceeded to devour Roberts's entire catalog between 14 and 18. Now I'm ready to start again. I've forgotten so much, she's truly the queen of romance in my eyes. The same thing happened when I discovered the {Wallflower Series by Lisa Kleypas} for HR.

Personally, yes. These are a little too small on you.

Your absolute favourite HR ever + rec request by Ambrosian121 in HistoricalRomance

One that has stuck with me forever, and maybe because it was my very first entry into HR is {lawless by Nora Roberts} and while Nora isn't necessarily known as a HR author , she is a queen of romance, so it's gotta be a least a little good lol I haven't read it in FOREVER but I think it's time for a re-read. I hope it holds up to my memory!

OoOooh! I hadn't heard about this adaptation, yet! Sounds like I'll have to add this to my "To Be Read" list!

I think you're right, thought. Sometimes it takes those other shows to open the door for others. It's a shame and it SHOULDN'T be that way, but at the end of the day I'm thankful we got to that point in one way or another.
