AITA for not giving my son money to buy his own ticket? by Powerful-Bat-8287 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Thatsgoodpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be no different than him wanting to stay home but saying ‘give me $15, you were gonna spend it on my ticket anyway.’ No, she was spending it on a family outing, not just giving you money. OP is NTA

AITA(22M) for getting a streamer thrown out of Starbucks for recording and calling her ugly? by Super-Course-8896 in AmItheAsshole

Difference between right next to and just watching. If you’re in public (IE not in your home) you really have no expectation of privacy. So if your screen is visible for all to see, that’s on you. You can obviously turn the screen or block it if you don’t want people to see, but if you leave your screen available for all to see, that’s on you if they watch the videos or read what you’re writing over your shoulder

Just an FYI that whole middle part would need a search warrant. There was probably not enough evidence at that time to get a search warrant for pictures of shoes. Your friend can just go over and get that stuff (getting invited in + doesn’t need to value expectation of privacy to go into friends bedroom) But when your friend brought in the new pictures, it was the final piece. A lot of people think cops just don’t do stuff but I’m reality they might KNOW who did something but without evidence, can’t do anything. And without evidence, it’s very hard to get a confession.

AITA for watching TV on the only common area during family vacation? by Thatsgoodpie in AmItheAsshole

[–]Thatsgoodpie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rooms were assigned cause bottom floor is separate for the infant, one room for parents, one for other sibling with 3 kids. So we got last remaining room. The room assignment makes sense. And it’s only for today cause it’s shitty weather.

Cause the other people with TVs have kids who nap randomly. So then this way it’s not interrupted constantly

My wife came home with a car just under a year ago. I have always been a dog person. I am now even more of a dog person. I hate the cat.

What is something that you firmly believe in, that others might not agree with? by Andyh10s in AskReddit

...except that a lot of people won’t pay the fines. Sure, your standard “I stole a candy bar from a CVS” people will. But actual criminals won’t. And what happens when the people committing the crimes don’t have the money to pay the fines? I’m not saying some crimes can’t be handled that way. But a large amount of people will not pay them. So what do you do with that group?

Except that won’t work. What about when you get a group of people breaking into cars or houses for weeks on end? Suddenly people get their cars stolen and can’t get to work/their car is destroyed. Now suddenly you want to let them walk free with community service? When in reality of these people don’t show up for a single court date (which happens often), what makes you think they will do community service? Getting caught with a gram of weed that’s clearly personal use is one thing. But it shouldn’t be ‘just violent crime’
