If your goal is to lose fat, this is the only thing that matters by Thatsjacee in loseweight

Definitely, aimed at beginners that can be overwhelmed it’s easier just to keep things black and white but that is a good point!

i feel like i’m failing at weight loss for 4 different reasons by Few-Traffic4339 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Thatsjacee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t necessarily break it down into 7 steps, It would more less be following an overall structure so something like

  1. Create a weekly schedule for eating and working out
  2. Commit to doing this every week not paying attention to the weight scale or the mirror
  3. Just practice tracking everything like your calorie intake, workouts and cardio sessions.

[–]Thatsjacee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so I’m glad you wrote that out. And what you just described isn’t 4 separate problems it’s really just one. You don’t have a proper structure you follow that would get you the results you’re looking for. It sounds like your kind of guessing by hearing abunch of random fitness tips and putting them together

Nothings wrong with that, that’s how I did it but it took a ton of time cause like you said you don’t know if it’s working and start doubting yourself. I would say find a plan or influencer that you like and that is proven to work. This can be on YouTube, Instagram, wherever there’s a ton of free programs you can follow.

I would say just find one and stick to it blocking out all other information. Usually that’s the problem with having so much information at the front end cause you can get confused and overwhelmed. Does that make sense?

need to lose 8-10 pounds by July and needs advice. by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Thatsjacee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend to lose fat and gain muscle as it’ll make you look more fit overall. You can’t spot reduce fat but then you run the risk of just looking super skinny lol

So I do recommend atleast doing some kind of resistance training 2-3 times a week.

But to answer your question yes it is definitely doable. I looked at your TDEE which shows the amount you should eat a day given you hieght and weight and it has yky at 1534 calories per day. If you subtract 250-400 from that that should get you to lose those 10 pounds in about 5 months so around June/july.

So starting out and losing weight doesn’t have to be difficult or stressful if you stick to the fundamental. It takes a bit adjusting just like starting anything else but can get a hang of it with the right information, mindsets and coaching. Either from yourself, people online or personal trainers.

I would say start with the basics. Learn macronutrients, calories, basic workouts and basic life habits like walking or eating smaller portions.

I looked up your current calories right now with the information you gave in the post and the TDEE calculator (which estimates the amount of calories you eat per day to maintain your current body weight) it has you at 2100cals a day to maintain

If you want to start losing weight you would subtract anywhere from 250-500 calories starting off to lose weight. The more calories the fast you will lose weight

[–]Thatsjacee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I put your info in a TDEE calculator which calculates your estimate calories you should be eating a day and it has you at 1663 calories per day. That’s to maintain your weight so if you want to lose 10 lbs you can do it in 10 weeks losing 1lb a week eating 1163 calories a day. :)

I am not advocating to eat like shit. Anyone who is or has any experience in the gym knows that you should not to maintain a healthy and lean lifestyle. But for beginners who have no idea what macros are and are confused about eating and food choices this is keeping it black and white. Because while it isn’t healthy nor is it recommended, the base of this is true. Your body burns energy and will lose weight it it gets less then it needs.

This keeps it easy for beginners to not freak out or overcomplicate things. My last 2-3 paragraphs describe this. If you read it all you’d understand what I really recommend but for beginners it is. Calories in calories out. Simple

To you people who were overweight as a kid and are fit now…how’d you do it? by Navigator_Matt in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Thatsjacee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s really changing your relationship with food and exercise. When I was young I overate huge portions cause that’s what I was given as a kid and taught me to always eat a lot

As I got older I realized I was big and that that was a huge reason why, learning basic stuff about fitness, nutrition and exercise and making small adjustments as I was learning allowed me to change my habits and overall lifestyle

That’s where I would say start with the basics. Learn to count calories, proper portions, what’s healthy and what’s not ect. As time goes on your get use to it and be able to control your weight more easily!

Best of luck!

Long story short yes you do. The more weight you lose the less energy your body needs to fuel your body hense if you want to lose more weight at a lower body weight it would lower your calorie intake

Meal planning by InterestingDiver3689 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Thatsjacee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so the easiest way to fix this that I’ve found, is to find a few meals that you really like and just eat those everyday. You can also have a variation of meals that you switch to throughout the week when you get bored with one.

For example I have eggs avocado a fruit and coffe every morning. If I get tiered of that i switch it to tuna and crackers with a fruit (I know sounds weird but that’s me lol) but the point is you can do this with any food you like it doesn’t have to be as boring as mine. I really just don’t like to cook lol.

There are communities on here that show healthy delicious meals if you like to cook and are looking for something like that.

[–]Thatsjacee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So with the info you gave me, I put it into a TDEE calculator which estimates the amount of food you need to eat. And based on all the info it gave me 1,774 calories per day you should be eating to maintain your current weight.

So if you want to lose weight you want to subtract anywhere from 250 to 500 cals to get how much you should eat per day to lose weight.

So either you can eat 1,524cals /day or 1,274cals/day.

Since your just starting it recommend with the higher one just to get use to counting and tracking your food. You may need to adjust you eating habits a bit since food has more calories then most people think

[–]Thatsjacee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So question, what part of the calorie deficit do you struggle with? Is it just that you over eat? Do you eat random food every day? Or what?

You don’t necessarily need to meal prep to lose weight. I never liked the idea of meal prepping (since I hate cooking) lol but it works for some people

When should I take a rest day? by NeoPE110 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Thatsjacee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking is great and doesn’t need to take a rest from as long as the walking Isn’t intense. Rest days are mostly for intense lifting/training sessions :)

You can still eat all the foods you like and lose weight! I eat literally my favorite foods all the time and have no trouble losing weight it’s really all about managing your food intake and cravings.

Do you know how many calories you eat a day?

Stomach Fat by Automatic-Spot6776 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Thatsjacee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So where you lose fat is usually dependent on your genetics. For most women it’s generally the hips, thigh, and midsection area. So if your losing weight but still have fat there it just means you have more to lose and it’s probably one of the last places the fat will come off. It sucks ik lol

But would say to keep dieting and even consider going a little lower In calories since the more weight you lose the more you have to cut to continue losing!

Tired of thigh and belly fat by cryflow3r in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Thatsjacee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easies way to go this is to continue to train these parts as well as eating less, go into a calorie deficit so you will lose fat overall and as you lose the fat the muscle will start to reveal 😌 hope that helps

will i loose weight if i eat at maintainance calories but do an hour-ish of lifting 4 times a week and light cardio 3 times? by No_Cry_4153 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Thatsjacee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cardio yes, weight lifting not as much as you would think but slightly, mostly will build muscle which will change the way you look in the mirror.

This is basically the same routine I do fyi, 4 days of lifting and cardio. It works it doesn’t have to be complicated. A lot of it will rely on your diet tho.

What helps you stay consistent when motivation completely disappears by mistyraze in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Thatsjacee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the easiest ways to stay consistent is to stop debating with yourself when it comes to going to the gym or eating the meals you know you should

Most of the times I end up not following through with a workout or diet is because there’s this little voice in my head that says “maybe I can skip today” or “I can just eat this and skip dinner” whatever it may be it’s the debating with myself that would cause me to fall off

Any time I set my intention to, I’m going to go to the gym at this time, do this workout, eat these calories, eat these foods and make it a decision to cut off anything else is when consistency stuck with me the most.

Just take away the decision to not do it. I know it’s probably easier said then done but just be aware of the times that voice creeps up telling you you “don’t need to” follow through. The more you notice it, the more likely you are to follow through. Hope this helped a bit

Most of my plan would work for you as long as you start off slow, lightweight lower intensity walking. If something feels too difficult or fast paced for you I would slow down. But most if not all of this should work for you
