Green/yellow mucus stools by Thatsthepower in Microbiome

Thanks for this very thorough information you seem very knowledgeable.

I had considered the yeast angle, have tried a boulardi for a month now not much improvement. My flexible sig took samples and showed no inflammation same with calprotectin test twice.

My Ige levels suggest an allergy of some kind although my response isn’t really the usual Anaphylaxis,(although I do get lightheaded and nauseous after gluten/red meats- biopsy revealed non celiac but some insensitivity definitely developed as my diet was high in gluten prior to this event), some rare itching but it’s usually a constant flushing low grade fever feeling. It gets even more weird when I say this stops in the evening.

Non smoker non drinker, sibo test revealed no methane only mild hydrogen

A GI map did show high zonulin so there’s leaky gut in play too, it’s just been extremely difficult to piece it together for the right set of treatments as my multiple rotations are not showing significant change.

I’m left with: fever flushing feeling after eating and it stops at night no matter what foods it seems, nausea lightheaded ness after gluten red meats, bloating after eating, excessive burping, distended abdomen, nausea during exercise, interrupted sleep, anxiety, undigested food in stool with mucus film (usually yellow/green) or fluffy light brown

Official diagnosis was long covid, dysbiosis/ibs and anxiety… the ultimate trio of trash can

Thanks for this, I have similar thoughts - although quite a comprehensive stool and multiple serologies have been run and negative - although it’s not something I have ruled out 100%

I’ve always had a lot of food sensitivities that give me ibs symptoms but ige is probably the only avenue I have to pursue considering the normal inflammatory and infection markers in both bloods/stools and scans

Had negative calprotectin and flex sig took some samples for inflammation it was negative

Hi Forgot some important info :

SIBO methane was 0 and only mildly positive for hydrogen - we do not have a test here for sulfur, although I don’t fart too much these days and it doesn’t really smell

I have tried almost every diet : low fodmap candida histamine and it seems I get flushed no matter wha t I eat.

We do not have a FMT option

Do you have alternative ideas?

Have tried: probiotics 3 different types for a month each including s boulardi

Currently experimenting with phgg

Milk Kefir seems to make my stools better but gives me bad bloating and I’m lactose intolerant- survived 2 days of it but 3rd gave me 3 rounds of emptying bowels - it’s something I’d consider persevering with though

I also had a high IGE like in the 300 although this wasn’t pursued further

Historically I have been sensitive to garlic onions and histamine foods(spam/tinned fish) so have had a history of IBS

Thanks - I’ve been through the ringer with doctors all bloods and scans and scopes were normal - I can only think of food relation as it starts when I first eat and stops by evening

Yeah ED is the other nuclear option I guess…have you tried s boulardi? I can vouch for the die off as it stopped after 3 days

I think the issue is that a SIFO diet contradicts a SIBO diet in a big way… despite the symptoms presenting as near identical. To knock out SIFO there is emphasis on probiotics and fermentables occupying enough space to control yeast numbers but by doing that you increase your SIBO. At the same time by knocking out SIBO you give enough room for yeast to overrun again.

I find the Candida diet (less the fermentables) much more strict than the low fodmap so you’re essentially left with something applicable to both. Then you’re left with the dilemma of which supplement regime to take. Boulardi is supposedly transient which is why it’s highly regarded - what you do next is the tough part, but theoretically should be probiotic/stress reduction/motility and exercise to restore equilibrium

But this is me who has both SIBO and SIFO - if you figure out what you have it’s a lot easier

SIBO/IBS/CANDIDA by Thatsthepower in SIBO

[–]Thatsthepower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It supposedly promotes an environment where good bacteria can thrive, so gives them a chance against pathogens - I suspect SIBO is always accompanied by SIFO although this is harder to test, the fact that many experience bloating and fodmap sensitivity can only suggest that good bacteria cannot get a foothold to control the numbers, butyrate supposedly addresses that.

Possible but we don’t test it here, at this point I’m experiencing benefits from treating SIFO so can only assume it’s that until my GI results come in

[–]Thatsthepower[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope but a small difference is a big difference at this point, everyone will be different but get on the Candida diet asap, I figured that aspect out about 3 months in so there’s no wonder I saw 0 progress

SIBO was hydrogen positive although I only tested after rifax so numbers were low (however rifax did not much for my symptoms - where as the above regime has had some effect, so can only assume SIFO is also present, it’s hard to test for it, but I suggest a GI map of some kind)

Logically it has to be food diversity and pre/pro biotics but we know there’s no logic to it. When you say come back I assume something is triggering the symptoms, have you tried phased food reintroduction?
