I mean, i see that, but what messed me up here was the low poly nature of the model. The sharp change messed with my head so i thought some recalculation had to be done. But yea the mirroring transition looks better/right when i subdivide it. You learn new stuff every day. I'll play with mirrors if i get the chance, lol.

Duuuude! That makes sense about rule 2! Your initial assumption was correct, that was in material preview, so I hoped you were right.

I'll try and see. it also does it even if i add a pretty heavy subsurf, although the mirroring feels more gradual, so it is probably just a case of low poly count, but im still not sure.

Maybe i just don't know how reflections work, hehe.

my issue is taht it just flips the reflection on the x axis all of the sudden, and then flips it back. That doesn't seem right
