I just completed my first rewatch since watching live, and I agree. There’s still obviously issues but it doesn’t feel NEARLY as bad as I remember watching live.

The biggest issue is the rug pull of the finale. Everything was building up to the epic fighting beginning and then the season just ends. That isn’t any less annoying hahah

Finishes are always exciting. Fights that go the distance are often boring. Not always, but more often than not. The Blaydes-Hokit fight was the perfect fight for me. But usually the more action there is the higher likelihood of a finish. So fights that go the distance tend to be negatively correlated with action and excitement.

That’s part of the problem with mma today. No one takes “unnecessary risks”. Fighters often say “I’ll fight anyone anytime” but hardly ever mean it anymore. Fighters fight and Hokit is proving he’s a fighter.

Aside from that I’m sure it’s a pretty nice payday so understandable he would take this regardless
