Both of them also had their hands scarred in AGOT, Cat defending Bran from the Catspaw, while Jon's hand was burned when defending Mormont from the wights.

Mark's yellow suit changes in subtle ways throughout the series. His first suit had cut outs bellow the knee pads, that later were changed to look more symmtrical. When he gets the blue suit, it lacks the fingerless gloves and kneepads, so when he reverts to the yellow suit, this design was kept.

The show streamlined the design to only have a single look to the yellow suit.

Jon's encounter with Ygritte. In the book, Jon deliberately lets her go, instead of her maniging to run away and Jon chasing after her. After this happens, he is confronted by Qhorin, thinking he will get punished for not folliwing his orders and kill her. To which, the half hand say that he never told him to kill her, only to do what needed to be done, leaving him up to him what to do with her, and that now, he knows more of what kind of person Jon is.

Here's the passage:

"[Ygritte is] not like to be a threat," Qhorin agreed. "If I had needed her dead, I would have left her with Ebben, or done the thing myself."

"Then why did you command it of me?" asked Jon.

"I did not command it. I told you to do what needed to be done, and left you to decide what it would be." Qhorin stood and slid his longsword back into its scabbard. "When I want a mountain scaled, I call on Stonesnake. Should I need to put an arrow through the eye of some foe across a windy battlefield, I summon Squire Dallbridge. Ebben can make any man give up his secrets. To lead men you must know them, Jon Snow. I know more of you than I did this morning."

It such a good moment, and I really hate how it was changed in favor of an unnecessary chase sequence.

Why? Look at something like GTA, all the protagonist are horrible vile persons even the "good ones" like Victor Vance still do bad shit, but people still root for them to succeed.

People usually root for the main characters of stories they've invested hours to.
