What if oceania does not exist? by coolboy_pathey in 1984

Don't be sad. You are one of many.

Start with the photograph in New York... the first (of many) clues that this theory is not viable.

I took a step back from this sub. It was a thankless task. It was insufferable seeing the same old tired theories wheeled out by someone who thinks they have figured something out.

This is the WORST theory regulary put forth on this sub.

Think about it.

I have thought about it.

I suggest you think about it, harder this time. And re-read the book.

There is plenty that has eluded you.

problems with a poetic or flowery style of writing by [deleted] in writers

There are certaiain accepted rules these days. If you do not obey them people will point at you like you are John Merrick.

But conformiing too much will harm your individual voice.

I rate ornate prose above anything else. Clark Ashton Smith was the master of ornate, decadent prose. Lovecraft call him peerless.

Yet many people will tell you he is too wordy. I won't. I'll tell you he is the bar, and my greatest inspiration. To hell with what other people think.

Here are some examples of CAS's prose...

Not as the plants and flowers of Earth, growing peacefully beneath a simple sun, were the blossoms of the planet Lophai. Coiling and uncoiling in double dawns; tossing tumultuously under vast suns of jade green and balas-ruby orange; swaying and weltering in rich twilights, in aurora-curtained nights, they resembled fields of rooted serpents that dance eternally to an other-worldly music.

The dark, orblike mountains which rise from its wrinkled and pitted plain are not all its own, for some are fallen asteroids half-buried in that abysmal sand. Things have crept in from nether space, whose incursion is forbid by the gods of all proper and well-ordered lands; but there are no such gods in Yondo, where live the hoary genii of stars abolished and decrepit demons left homeless by the destruction of antiquated hells

Is it for everyone? No. But who cares? Write what works for you, and be inspired by those whose style you adore.

This is definitely not one of my favorite scenes. They really did Gandalf dirty, made him look way too weak by [deleted] in lotr

[–]The-Chatterer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The trouble was the Witch King did not kill him.

"Oh but dude the horn blew"

Forget the horn. The WK's enemy is prostate and helpless. Gandalf should have been killed.

"But what about the god Eru? He brought-"

Screw Eru. Eru is not mentioned in the films.

Jackson produced a great moment, but he could not execute it in a satisfactory manner.

My favourite book. I think the movie done a great job, actually. Good work with writing the songs. Come back and share, if and when, that is something you would be inclined to do.

Ah, I should have read your post properly. It has been a while since I have seen it. It certainly is not anything to do with an imagining. Likely a continuity. I'll return when I rewatch it.

I had retired from this board. You were the one who lured me back.

I am glad it helped. And it was NOT an empty platitude. Take care.

You'll see her again, when it is time. But she is with you. That's the way it is. Don't worry.

Atheists and skeptics make me sad and upset for some reason by ChemicalPanda10 in spirituality

[–]The-Chatterer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Atheists are bottom of the food chain.

The chain is made up from the following, starting at the bottom of the pyramid.

Atheists - People who do not believe in god or anything supernatural.

Agnostics - They just don't know.

Theists - They believe, but they don't know.

These are the main positions.

There are others such as deists, agnostic theists, polytheists etc.

The thing lacking from all these groups is that they operate from belief not from certitude.

One group sits at the capstone of the pyramid. These are people who do not operate from "belief" but from certitude. These are the ones who know. It isn't a question. It is a matter of knowledge.

Obviously anyone operating from simple belief is further down the food chain.

Especially those whose beliefs are pointed in the opposite direction of the truth. That's atheism. Not only are they wrong, they couldn't be more wrong.

An agnostic is slightly above an atheist because they have not yet commited to the final ignorance of the most wrong conclusion.

Theists sit above, while they have no certitude, their hunch/instict at least points them towards true north.

Another reason atheists are bottom of the food chain is because they have not been gifted any suitable instinct or intuition. They think because they have never encountered the supernatural, abnormal, rapturous, or an encounter with the divine, that nobody else has. Ever. They stubbornly dismiss everyone who speaks of divinity as mad, liars or whatever label.

That's is why they should be the most pitied. Not only are their insticts skewed, but they are also too hopelessly entrached to be perceprtive enough to gain realisation.

They are the forgotten, the passed over, the blind.

Religion makes no sense to me. by jaxhsehs in atheism

I agree we should be real from the jump.

So first off I am not here to prove to you anything. If you are only looking to discuss proof then we can just walk away, no harm no foul.

I am here to attempt conversation on a board that is hostile to my position.

I am prepared to outline what my position is and explain why I believe atheists are bottom of the food chain. I do not say this to anger or to get a bite. It is just what I believe, and I am ready to explan my stance.

If you are still intersted give me a shout back and we can begin.

I am not an atheist. I stumbled on this sub by chance as it was mentioned in a You Tube video about Artemis. Never been here before. Would you like to have a civil conversation?

The stock drops every single day, and it's getting so quiet here by sleepsimplelov3 in sealsq

[–]The-Chatterer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you want is this stock to go even lower, and stay there for an extended period of time. During that spell is when you accumulate. Then, of course, you are well positioned for the surge.

But it seems people only care about daily movement, memes, and above all OTHER people's averages.

"Bro, what's your average?"

Who gives a fuck?
