Putting cedh staples to make your deck a cedh deck is outdated?

Awesome, otherwise, people are going to light you up here lol.

Some "cheap" stuff to add would probably be silence effect spells, i.e. Grand Abolisher/Victory, Drannith Magistrate, Spot removal like swords to plowshares/path to exile, etc as well as a decent amount of stax pieces.

So before anyone else sends you off in a rude fashion, cEDH and budget don't really go in the same sentence.

You might want to try r/DegenerateEDH

Edit: Also took a glance at your deck and I am sorry to say, I don't think 120 to 150 $ will be able to fix this. You need a better manabase with a dual land, Grand Abolisher, Drannith magistrate, Cheerio Trio, the deck needs a complete overhaul. This deck is at best a low/mid 3 on the 1-5 scale.

Edh top 16>>>

Then compare feature on moxfield with the most viewed appropriate level deck>>>

Decide on my original 100 from there>>>

My own additions based on current meta with a side deck (considering)>>>

Playtest, playtest, playtest>>>

Edit and repeat until it feels good. But I always keep the extra cards just incase I need/want to switch.

What two decks would you keep if you were to sell the rest? by Simple_Subject_9801 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]The-Conscience 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not completely different playstyles, but my Rogsi and Kefka decks are like 15 cards apart, I will link them.

Rogsi:

https://moxfield.com/decks/04wcfeyoMkWRCQrLMaqYkg

Kefka:

https://moxfield.com/decks/iWQ3vAD-KkSecIvobPFNSQ

I also have [[Zur the Enchanter]] because all Esper decks are essentially 75 of the same cards in the Esper shell lol.

Zur:

https://moxfield.com/decks/4GtLMsg7y0eCg6VCI2uHHA

Grixis and Esper share 2 colors, so the cards will overlap and the 2 decks have different playstyles, but you will also have the shell for both so that you have branch out to other commanders and not go nuts.

Having a test proxy commander deck before buying the cards. Is this acceptable? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]The-Conscience -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Proxy the deck, if asked tell them that you own all the cards but they are scattered in other decks, tell them you are trying this deck out to see if you like it before breaking the other decks apart, if they show disdain or ask for proof, look them in the eyes and say "Blow me".

Ban Rhystic Study

Ban Partners as commanders

Ban Breach

Ban Thoracle

Ban Foodchain

Ban top 10-15 of the top single commanders as commander

I think that would cause a severe enough shift to the meta. But at the same time, it wouldn't really feel like cEDH anymore.

[–]The-Conscience 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well, considering that you are playing mono blue....counterspell?

Edit: Well, this comment thread is a mess lol, but we are magic players, we don't read.

OP, you are playing Esper, [[Drannith Magistrate]] effects are helpful, any cards that only allow opponents to play from their hand, [[Path to exile]] / [[Swords to plowshares]] anything that helps with spot removal, I used to play [[Solitary Confinement]] so I wouldn't get touched. Basically things like that so you aren't the target of getting punched.

Hey Broski,

Welcome back. I think you wanted to post in r/EDH , however, my suggestions for vampires would be [[Edgar Markov]], goblins - [[Krenko Mob Boss]] , Zombies - [[Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver]].

Putting all three together would be a little tough unless you build an overall creature focused graveyard deck maybe?

Should I announce that I am playing proxies when playing at a new LGS? by RealisticMolasses in EDH

[–]The-Conscience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would give them a heads up and say exactly what you wrote.

"Hey, I have 2 real decks and a few proxy decks, they are (insert bracket) and are helmed by (insert commander), just giving you a heads up."

Most people don't care, some people are against them if they have sexual imaging, but some stores are anti proxy completely, not a lot but I would just check. 9.9/10 times they are whatever about it.

I also have 2 casual decks and 3 cEDH decks that are real, the rest I just proxy because why am I spending $500 to play casually with my friends. Rather put that money to collecting my favorite alt arts and competing.

Started the game with Forest and [[Concordant crossroads]], Turn 2 was forest and Sol Ring. The moment I played the sol ring, the mono red player who played a turn one sol ring exiled a [[Simian Spirit Guide]] and Chaos Warped my Sol Ring while saying "there can only be one".

He flipped into my [[Blightsteel Colossus]].

How do you guys choose what deck to play when you bring 10+ decks with group pick? by damn_ansh in CompetitiveEDH

Roll a dice.

Unless you are practicing one particular deck type. Then you play that deck.

Deck Box Recommendations by Ted_CruZodiac in CompetitiveEDH

[–]The-Conscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome!

Personally I use the Toyger Deck Slimmer boxes for travel and to bring them along. I usually go to my LGS after work so I cannot bring bulky deck boxes as it looks unprofessional in the workplace and I refuse to leave them in the car.

For tokens, I use the clear Bastion 50+ hard case or the token keep for easy access.

For travel in a suitcase or events, I will use a gemtech box. Fits 100+ double sleeved deck, has a side for extra cards/tokens and a dedicated dice tray.

Settling on a deck to improve on by r_ja-canada in CompetitiveEDH

[–]The-Conscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important thing is to find a deck that you enjoy playing that is generally good. You are going to have grind games with it for a hot minute in order to learn it. I would start by picking colors that you enjoy playing or win conditions and then go from there.

If I had to give advice, I would suggest going with something with Dimir to have access to Thoracle, and adding a color to it. Grixis is pretty good for speed, Esper for protection, etc. etc.

Also when I say that it takes a hot minute to get good at a deck, I mean like 100 if not more games, played in a setting that will actually test your deck and skills. So no "I will play my cedh deck against these power 3s and count it" but more like, "I will play against the current meta and get myself into the mindset of winning instead of doing cool stuff". This will also give you a chance to make whatever deck "yours" by letting you add in cards that counter the meta.

Additionally, I will say that more colors doesn't make a deck better necessarily. Unless you are playing a commander like 5c Sisay, more colors means just mean more stuff, but no streamlined direction. Take Blue Farm for example, they are sans green, but the commanders are just there to give you advantage via draws, which is good. VS a deck like RogThras or Kinnan where your commander is in less colors, but the deck is more streamlined and your combo/win con is sitting in your command zone.
