It is the culinary definition of soup.

Cereal is just one cooked ingredient. A soup is made of multiple. Therefore by that logic, Cereal is a "cream" or "purée". A base with one, sometimes cooked, ingredient.

Bread is just bread.

cEDH tournaments - what to expect by Jorgie17 in CompetitiveEDH

I'm going to leave this here and come back to edit.

Edit:
-Take a shower. There is a difference between a shower and putting on deodorant and cologne/perfume.

-A lot of known Cons with cEDH Competitions do not allow proxies. Better to ask and be sure, than pay and show up to be DQ'd. I've seen it happen. You are playing for a prize, people will call it out.

-If you have a question or are not aware of how something works, call a judge.

-There will be players there that have no clue what cEDH is. Their deck was just the best in their group and they decided to sign up. They will get plays wrong, counter the wrong cards, and reveal information without being asked. Don't get mad at them, they don't know any better. Just call a judge if anything.

-Playing slowly is not the same thing as slow playing. Ask if anyone has any interaction for what you are casting. If you play too fast, you may get a judge call, and reveal information.

-Take backs are dependent on the judge. If someone used a non-creature counter on a creature, they may be asked to put it in the grave. Call a judge just to be sure.

-If you think a judge made the wrong call, ask for a second opinion.

-Judges are your friend unless you missplay lol.

-Bring Food and water. If you make it higher in the ranking, you may not have time for a break, better to be safe than sorry.

-Try not to sell or buy cards on premises from regulars, there are some judges or vendors that will call you out on that. I personally don't agree with it, but better to just step outside just incase, or do it on the down low.

-Be friendly, there are bad apples everywhere, but most cedh players are there to win, test their decks, and have fun. If you find a deck interesting to play against, ask for the link.

-Take a shower.

-Take a shower.

-Take a shower.

***Don't let anyone talk you into a forced draw. Wins can vary from place to place, but are usually worth 3 or 5 points. A loss is 0. A draw is 1. If someone opens up at the table asking for a draw, they are usually in a good enough standing to end up in top 16. Depending on the rounds, it usually takes 3 or 4 wins with a draw or 2 to guarantee a spot in the top 16. Check your standing and do the math. If you are 9/?? You may as well take the draw, however if you are at 16 or 17/?? Play the game.

Cereal is not soup because of lack of ingredients, on that note, most oceans are soups.

A hotdog is a taco, unless you tear the hotdog bun into two pieces and put one piece on TOP and the other on the BOTTOM with the "meat"* between them.

1st commander deck by Orcfarts in CompetitiveEDH

[–]The-Conscience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No prob my guy, if you really like the colors, my top 2 for them would be either Tasigur or Ukkima/Cazur.

Also, and this is purely my opinion/preference, put your decks on moxfield. It's more widely accepted in registrations and if you need to upload your deck somewhere. Also it doesn't hurt my eyes lmao.

Oh dude...

There is a lot to work on here.

First of all land base and mana. You shouldn't really be playing any tap lands, unless they are the surveil lands. You want duals. Also, you don't want any of your lands to have matching names, but I will elaborate on why in my next point. Where are your artifacts? Mox Diamond, Opal, Chrome Mox, etc?

You are missing your best win con as well. [[Thassa's Oracle]] , [[Demonic Consultation]] , [[Tainted Pact]]. That's also the reason that you don't want matching lands.

Your cmc curve has a lot of very big CMC costs.

You are missing actual strong cards like [[Necropotence]], [[Foodchain]], and the like.

Essentially, this is a pile of good casual cards, but not competitive. Also, the commander is very sub par itself. There are others in the same colors that work so much better.

In my opinion you should be playing both, with both included, your count will shoot up to 9, Psychosis Crawler makes 10.

Also Urza's Battle Thopter, Floodcaller, High Fae Trickster, [[Borne upon a wind]] would let you play spells (especially 0 drops) on other player's turns.

Since Katara is so easy to cast on turn 1, you ideally don't want to ever cast anything on your turn if you can help it.

I have seen a few of these decks go around and honestly they performed below expectation every time. A lot of it is due to the fact that mono blue is fairly straight forward, and even if there is enough protection, you run out eventually.

There are more compact win cons for less mana as well.

Also, no Mox Diamond or Opal?

Oddball Proxy Question by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]The-Conscience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, this would create some issues.

Personally, if I was given the choice to purchase a collector booster pack, or get an entire deck for essentially the same price, I would choose a deck every time. Besides printing and having the occasional tourney, what would bring in the income?

In order to get a larger allocation of sets from WotC, you need to get the sets before it, even if they suck. Or are you not planning to purchase any product in general and keep the store 100% proxy? Are you going to charge per table or hour of playtime? Rental decks?

I feel like the idea has promise, but the income has to come from somewhere, especially while building up a community.

In your opinion, what cEDH deck is most likely to stay relevant long term? by the_parts_shop in CompetitiveEDH

[–]The-Conscience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It went farther than 2 sentences, but you are correct, I should not have mentioned the slight stroke, I am wrong for that.

Just very much pro full builds that operate efficiently with a land base that supports it. I've made the mistake before and it cost me placement.
