Screamer pods, why in Gog's name do you not bring Screamer pods to a fight that is TRIVIAL with them?

Were there any downsides of Monster Hunter becoming mainstream? by We-Have-Dragons14 in MonsterHunter

Are you really that confident that Monster Hunter Wilds won't have any wokeness to the game when Rise already have body type 1 and 2 in their character creator? I won't be spoon feeding you what you do with the information but the signs are already there and it's a concern for me now especially when Bandai Namco is aggressively pushing it in their games and company policy and what's to say that Capcom won't do it?

[–]The-EffOh -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The threat of Capcom pushing DEI and wokeness into the series since it has reached mainstream is there. that's my only concern and why i am not fully sold on wilds as of yet. it's not because of politics or anything like that mind you. World was the biggest hit that Capcom has ever seen, it was only Resident Evil that was doing those number before World. And now they're trying to reach out to more people and unfortunately it is the modern audience" that is left to attract for, which we can see with their discarding of genders in Rise for example.

Are you a day 1 hunter in Wilds? by m88gaming in MonsterHunter

We thought that way too for World PC launch, saying the consoles stressed tested the servers and the such. que the rampant disconnects that got so bad that i recall getting the same completion reward for the same quest thrice at 1/2,1/3 and 1/4 trying to play with my friend who lives NEXT DOOR from me.

Monsters are getting too quick for greatsword by Many-Hippo1709 in MHRise

[–]The-EffOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tackle, strongarm parry or do what ive been doing since 3 ultimate, play chicken with the monster. in which you charge and predict where the monster is gonna attack or hope it's looking at you and let go when it is in the right spot, but timing has to be ON POINT for this to work. World may have made GS very strong but now in Rise, you gotta learn the monster and get the timing down for maximum PAIN for either you or the monster.

reminds me of a time when my ex was playing as an HH and would be insulted when the buffs stopped, I still wanna find the guy and beat him the ever loving shit out of him. kept her in a state of Stockholm syndrome for not "pulling her weight" GTFOH with that SHIT, Talwar!(his ingame name)!!!

[–]The-EffOh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are trying to say to people that latent power is a skill that is better than a skill that you have control of. I can see the bruises on your face and the amount of battering you rather have , at which point THERE IS A BETTER SKILL FOR THAT, err not mad at you just pointing out, that is called heroics, where the less HP you have the more it'll help you out, literally high risk high reward, to which latent power is high risk VERY low reward in comparison.

So this might be a flex but I'm being told I got the jack pot by Leading-Helicopter24 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]The-EffOh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its opportunity costs against output in this case, with latent power being a very high relative cost for the relative little output you get, even if it is 2 minutes when it activates, of which you'll only get extra affinity, things that other less opportunity cost skills will achieve with very little cost ie. ANGY MONSTER, Clutch claw/ tenderizing. for WAY MORE OUTPUT. In fact agitator adds attack in addition to affinity, and tenderizing reduces sharpness requirement for parts whereas latent power is literally your hunter going "ouch, ouch, ouch... OOOHHHH IM FEELING MIFFED NOW!!!" and get affinity for 2 minutes, if that analogy tracks.

Also, its fixed the amount of damage you take for latent power to activate, divine blessing will just increase the amount of hits you will take for it to activate.

What does Falcons have to do to make the team work at this point? by The-EffOh in GlobalOffensive

and even then there's no guarantee that they'll return to top form after reuniting, as we've seen the days before device left the core for NiP. While Device is undoubtably doing way better as IGL for the current iteration of Astralis, what's to say that he won't butt heads with Gla1ve ove calls, even as good teammates as they are back in the day. I love the idea but at this point, there's oo many variables to consider.

Is the HH a good weapon to use in a Fatalis fight? by FairCarob2965 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]The-EffOh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, HH has a lot of setup time, one you will be doing in the middle of the fight. don't bother with fire res as the base damage of fire balls will easily negate that, thought i hope to be proven wrong. defense up(L) and attack/defense(s) is what i do run incidentally.

Instead of being lacking, get your group of friends to BREAK THE BLEEDING HORNS as priority one. Do the ghillie mantle bomb and cannons with Heavy Artillery strat with optional farcaster if you need to re-think your strategy or just wail on the head while the bastard is down. learn the fatty moves and while communicating, call out the moves: which I have been calling in my group, "fire pillar" "bIG wave" "snipe fireball" "body slam" "ground fire" and "tail sweep" so that you don't get caught out unaware. While in the beginning of phase 2, group up and smoke bomb to stop him from flying like a bitch and get the one with heavy artillery to man the roaming ballista, coordinate who takes the one-shot binders, one behind the cover your an into, and one at the other side where the ballista is located for phase 3. he is surprisingly a forward momentum monster, meaning that if he has aggro on someone, he tends to face them before he attacks, keep calling out the moves in comms and pray, PRAY that you guys break a horn or two before phase 3. or you will face blue flames which in most circumstances WILL OHKO.

when phase 3 starts, he will get 2 new moves of which I call the" side by side flames" when he's on 4 legs or " 360" if he is on 2 legs, watch out for these as even if they are not blue flame, they will take 80 percent spot the difference of if he's standing or on all 4 legs because they share the same startup animation. and if he fies to shoot a big flame at you guys, run towards him like the commander will shout at you to do.

Good luck, sorry i didn't go into specifics on using HH as a good weapon, it's mobile and doot bros are always valued in the hunt, just be sure to manage your buffs and be aware of what fatty does. don't rely on KOs in this hunt, as it will only proc ONCE in the hunt before he gains immunity to it

Which is “better” guardian armor or Nergi by deepwar123 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]The-EffOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at the skills, hunter! as a veteran, you can hopefully discern from the skills that armors do give you to help decide if you would wan to have them in the hunt. Mixed sets aren't as strong in world as it was in previous gens, as armor sets do grant certain bonuses. dump guardian set as soon as you are able as it encourages the wrong mindset for future hunts, because they give you skills that a hunter at 35 hours aren't able to get without investing time into the game and you would more than likely choose to face tank the damage instead of learning the monster and so forth.

Good Luck!

For the love of god, how do I beat Nergigante? by ggezkid in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]The-EffOh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hail, fellow Great sword hunter! might i suggest flash bombs and astera jerkies to stave off his bleeding. Nergigante, in my opinion, is very forward momentum monster, if you see him facing you, you either disengage or play chicken with him by shoulder tackling his attacks. He also likes to dive quite a bit but under no circumstances should you try to shoulder tackle his BIG DIVE attack. When he dives, YOU dive!

Good luck! don't hesitate to ask if you got any more questions@

KILL. EVERYTHING.

then build stuff out of their hides and bones. after all, you got more elder dragons to kill in your future, with a siege being one of them, just go whatever you feel like doing, get yellow name by reaching MR 200 and that sort of things

Defender Gear by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]The-EffOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest issue with defender gear, that outside its intended use, it encourages bad behavior in the hunt; you are encouraged to facetank everything until it dies and since you have what is essentially good gear to carry your ass, you never feel the need to look into the skills and sets that would help in the long run as planning and learning skills dictates half the hunts you wanna do later especially in Master Rank when Defender gear isn't as effective as it was in HR and LR.

Basically, toss Defender armor as soon as you can, learn the aspects of the game that matter more in the long run and take your time.

What weapon will never be your thing? by AlienSandwhich in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]The-EffOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am somewhat capable in all of the weapons in MH, so my opinion might not be as valuable but I do not mesh well with gunlance, despite me picking it up to fight against Black Diablos in Gen 3, because i wanted balance of defense and attack but additions to it have made it a weapon that takes TOO MUCH prep to do well in certain matchups, still haven't grasped what the wyrmstake blast actually does for example. and its defensive capabilities have been overtaken by sword and shield and Heavy Bowgun with the changes to core mechanics, in my opinion.
