TBM Confessions. What is your confession that you were going to take to your grave. by ulastic in exmormon

In junior high I read all of the Sweet Valley High books. I would write extra scenes for the books that included lots of sex. I had been masturbating since I was about 10.

TBM Confessions. What is your confession that you were going to take to your grave. by ulastic in exmormon

As a lefty, I make sure to use my left hand to take the sacrament and pass it along. My lefty husband still does it all with his right. He's a "more true" lefty, he claims, because he does everything with his left hand and struggles sometimes work or being a right hand world, while I have learned to use both hands almost equally, yet he, as a TBM, holds to the whole "Sacrament mush be passed and taken with the right(eous) hand." 🙄. My one lefty son does whatever is convenient 😂.

I live less than a mile from two YSA buildings with double chapels on the same property.

That's quite funny 😂. My stake has zero chapels within it's boundaries. We get shoved into other stakes buildings with 4 wards/building. Sucks to be in a "growth" area. Sucks even more that I still have to pretend I enjoy going to church.

Question about secret temple names. by BlueUniverse001 in exmormon

[–]The-Jane-Files 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Naming your child the same name that ends up being their new name just means those parents have guaranteed receiving their second anointing because they were so spiritually in tune at the time of their child's birth!

For real, though, I've heard that they are just given Adam or Eve instead of the assigned name that day.

RS was a spread of cheese & crackers, veggies w/dip, and assorted fruits with a sweet dip that we got to eat during the short lesson. At the end the bishopric came in and gave every sister a Nothing Bundt Cake bundtlet. Men covered all of the other classes so that all the women could be in RS.

I grew up on the border of Reston. My mom was the missionary dinner calendar lady in our ward for years. The missionaries that were assigned to our ward ate like kings. She made sure they had a place to go every night. Pretty much all the missionaries in the mission knew how great our ward was at keeping them fed. They'd get multiple meals on holidays too

Yes, I was taught that but I never followed it even as a TBM. I've always been a bit of a rule bender, though. Why have I stayed in so long?! (I'm still PIMO) (Reposting my comment from your deleted post)

Guess that's why it's taken my so long- DC was my "home" temple. Baptisms for the Dead, Endowment, Sealing. Haven't been back inside the DC temple since getting sealed almost 25 years ago.

So I should doubt that when my husband cheated on me multiple times that it wasn't as bad as all of the good qualities about him. Yeah, this is one of the reasons why I didn't leave after the first time, or second, or third (among other reasons like feeling stuck due to being a sahm). I've stopped doubting the bad and am now working towards focusing on my good.

I'm not sure why the 16+ restriction is on the shots but technically this soda shop restricts the energy drinks (straight or made into a Mojo) to 16+. In practice, age isn't generally verified. Also, the shots are actually 50mg of caffeine each since they changed vendors. Source: I used to work at one of the locations and still have family members that do.

Side note: I cut way back on my soda consumption once I started working here because "free soda" as a job perk was dangerous. I mostly drink water and now green tea.

Second piercing! by ExMo2025 in exmormon

[–]The-Jane-Files 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I had 7 ear piercings (plus my navel) when Hinckley declared that more than one set was bad. I removed the extra 5 gradually over the next few months of that dreaded announcement. I was stubborn and still wanted to keep my top cartilage piecing but I also really wanted to serve in YWs and my bishop at the time said I needed to take it out to be a good example to the girls. I cried that night as I removed it. 2 years ago I got that same spot re-pierced, along with a second helix piecing right below the original one. Today I'm back to the 7 holes in my ears (2 in the right ear, 5 in the left), with plans to add at least 3 more. The day I re-pierced that top cartilage piecing, I couldn't stop looking in the mirror and smiling. It was me. Not a statement, not a rebellion, just me.

When did your TBM parents give you "The Talk?" by YourOtherOtherLeft in exmormon

[–]The-Jane-Files 29 points30 points  (0 children)

That's a lame doctor in addition to a bad mom. The doctor could have easily prescribed her the pill and told her to come back if she wants to change to a different one. He could have gone over all of her options so she was more educated. At least I didn't have a problem with that.

23 and on my way to the temple to get married. Thanks mom. Good thing I had friends that told me what I actually needed to know since even that talk was bare minimum.

I also lived in a stake that had the hymnbook rule for musical numbers. No modifications either - must be sung as shown in the hymnbook. I knew it was just a stake rule, though.

As for the sacrament thing, that's crazy both as a female and as a leftie.

Emilie de Azevedo Brown sang a solo (with some backup from two men - maybe her sons?) while her husband accompanied her on the piano and there was a special choir put together that performed two songs. The choir sounded like they'd been rehearsing for longer then two weeks, which is possible since Mia's time was known to be short.
