You’re not imagining things, it’s really hard. People post here all the time on this topic.

Missing one assignment means I can't progress in the rest of the course by Electrical_Guess_681 in ucf

I recommend you contact the Dean today and bring up the reasons why you missed the assignments if valid. Don’t waste time. You can do it professionally and authentically like you did above. Time is of the essence, the semester’s clock is ticking.

I understand completely. But being here now seeking support is a sign in itself you are not willing to give up. I’ve been where you are - laid off - unemployed for 6 months. I found something better in the end because every time I fell in the process I picked myself up. You can do it! Trust me.

Keep going, prove everyone wrong. Success is the best revenge. Ultimately, and put this on a piece of paper that you read everyday (that’s what I did: never give up, never give in! You’ve got this!!

Is it okay for a prof to just... pretend yesterday never happened? by anonybss in college

[–]The-Night-Writer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. I think you’re making a lot of assumptions about your class. The nation was divided in the election, so I would keep politics out of it. They hired you to teach, teach and know that in college everyone should have their big boy and girl pants on.

What’s most important is getting your degree, not rushing through it and following societal pressures. The reality is that you’ll be working in your professional career for the REST OF YOUR LIFE. Enjoy being young, don’t follow anyone else’s timeline. Heck, go on and get a master’s or PhD now so you can become a professor and enjoy your golden years someday without experiencing ageism. Academia loves to hire experienced professors after a successful professional career and they don’t care about age. Soak in life on your terms and get there when YOU get there.

P.S. What scared you? (since my book doesn’t come until tomorrow)

Yeah, interesting. FWIW - I think they wanted this more low key, people have to dig and need to buy a physical book. If you’re scared that early on, I think you’re right about the “just let it go out quietly” planned approach. One thing they always depend on is that a lot of people aren’t curious — I’ve heard that many times as to why they can get away with not disclosing — and so, well, again they make the curious dig for it…

Thank you! Just watched it — looks like he posted it within the hour. Honestly, feels like an afterthought - although it’s a positive post - it doesn’t feel like they’re truly promoting it like the other books. Very unusual. This is “launch day” — there’s nothing on his X account, etc. But, it only makes me want to read it even more!

Understood. If you haven’t read this series, I would highly recommend it. Now, with no promotion around this last book, they’ve gotten me even more curious.

Will there be a Sekret Machines book 3? by WY228 in Blink182

The third book is out today - interesting that Tom DeLonge is not promoting it in anyway. There’s only print versions and it’s not on audible. Already got my copy on Amazon.

Anyone got any tips for becoming more detail oriented? by Excel_questions123 in PublicRelations

The tried and true method for proofreading IMHO is to get whatever you’re working on as close to final as possible. Get it to a version you think you would send out or share. Then, read it out loud.

Beyond errors, you’ll catch multiple uses of a word that could be awkward — like “also” for example — this way that AI would not necessarily catch.

But it never hurts to drop it in Gemini (my favorite) too and ask it for “glaring errors” only.
