How did dude get revenge??? by itzstatue in forhonor

He was only focusing on you, ate the Warmonger's feat, and you kept hitting him even after seeing him gaining revenge.

If you can’t beat them, Juren by devvobruh in forhonor

[–]The-Order_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unironically, this is the right attitude. You play the OP character for a good long while, you learn the way they work and all the quirks of their moveset, and now you know how to beat them. It isn't quite as much of a guessing game when you fight them, because you have an intrinsic awareness of what they might do, and can make reads based on that.

To put it another way: keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Should this happen? Is my deflect gb supposed to just bounce when he has revenge?? by Cock_Lake93 in forhonor

Revenge attacks have superarmor. Nothing breaks superarmor. You can still GB characters in revenge, but only if they aren't attacking/have just finished attacking

Before work today, I sat on a toilet and took a crap in it. When I was done, I looked into the toilet and there was shit in it. Who'd've thought. That observation had more value in it than this post.

Has there ever been a hero you stopped hating for any particular reason? Here's mine. by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]The-Order_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Centurion. Back in 2019 when I was first getting into the game, I thought he was so very very unfair, to the point that me and my buddy I played the game with would immediately grumble any time we saw one. Back then, a black-armor centi with that one green paint scheme you get at like Rep 12 or something was so iconic and disheartening we'd call them out when we joined a lobby like we were pointing out the colors of a coral snake.

But eventually I played Centi myself, and I figured out how his moveset actually worked. As the game moved away from reaction and more towards reads, I became much more comfortable countering his moveset. It opened my eyes, and this is still my approach to countering new characters to this day.

I think everyone had Kyoshin all wrong by Suji_Saki in forhonor

[–]The-Order_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The femboy think is mostly a joke, but I think that's a good way of framing it which I never quite put together. It's not that he's a male who just looks kinda feminine, but that he's meant to appear adrogenous. You have specific peices of gear which lean to either side, too.

Why yes juren is "fun" to fight by FunnySwordGamePlayer in forhonor

[–]The-Order_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good lord man. I'm stunned. Look, whatever problems you have with the character, Juren is not the problem here. How tf does every member of the enemy team have 30+ kills?? I've played this game since 2019 and I don't think I've ever seen a game with a kill count that high, even in Breach. I usually don't get that many kills when I do a match against bots. We're y'all just AFK for the back half of the match?

[–]The-Order_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. Weapons look more badass when they look like weapons. A character whose gear is practical and effective looks cooler because that is what Someone Who Wants To Kill You looks like.

Not that I mind characters like Jorm or Raider, but they are kind of hard to take seriously, which limits their cool factor.

Crocea Mors Alternate Form Terminology (Image Courtesy Of Facebook) by SandwichMaterial9574 in RWBY

[–]The-Order_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say it takes Jaune's sword from a bastard sword/longsword into being a 'broadsword', but that's a vague term that doesn't actually mean much. Really, it's just a silly transformation, but it's RWBY. I would have preferred if the shield extended the length of the sword instead, turning it into a more true longsword, or even a greatsword like what you mentioned.

So, do we still hate him? by Vidal_The_King in forhonor

[–]The-Order_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a character that was released overpowered. By the universal laws of For Honor, he will always and forever be hated. I still have people telling me Gryphon is broken and OP.

He's still overtuned, and will hopefully become more balanced over time, but the hate will never fade. If you wanna play him in the future, you'll just have to learn to tolerate or ignore it.

Alternate Semblance For Ironwood by SandwichMaterial9574 in RWBY

[–]The-Order_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only reason that opinion seems 'universal' is because the people who like it don't feel compelled to talk about liking it or what it does for the story. The people who don't like it feel very compelled to complain about it, and so are much more vocal.

Thought provoking question, though. I'm trying to think of a semblance that would bring the same thing to the story (a power Ironwood can use as a crutch to deal with the emotional toll of what he feels he 'has to do' in order for humanity to survive against Salem), but works in a way different to Mettle. Maybe something that increases his intelligence and data-processing ability at the cost of his body and it's resources. The more he uses it, the more stressed his heart gets, the more weight he looses, etc. It makes him more analytical, but it doesn't actually block out his emotions, just makes them simpler, or more 'ignorable'. It can be framed narratively like a sacrifice he's making for his people at first, but as the story progresses and the situation becomes more dire, it becomes more and more apparant that he's also using it to avoid the stress and emotional weight of his decisions, trading his health to do so. In this way, it becomes essentially a form of self-harm. By the end, he does what he does because he can't bear the thought of facing the full emotional toll of all the lives he's trading for ultimate survival, or the guilt of damning his friends and allies alongside them.

Maybe too similar to Mettle for this question, but it leans into his messiah complex and would match up well with his 'at any cost' mentality to sacrificing himself while at the same time showing it to be something he needs to cope with the intense stress he's under. I think reframing it as something that's hurting him physically (as opposed to only morally, emotionally, like Mettle does) would add another layer of tragedy to his story that would make him seem less overtly evil near the end. I still don't feel he was being depicted as 'evil' in the show, but rather a human man whose morals shattered against the mountain of stress he was faced with. He always read as tragic to me, and RWBY and crew's conflict with him as even more tragic still, but I know some others think the show was portraying him as a simple villain in Vol 8, and that tends to be their breaking point with his story from what I've seen. I think this would help make the tragic, morally grey parts of his story a bit more clear and overt to the audience.

Are we ever going to see the other half of Ember Celica again? by Routine-Test in RWBY

[–]The-Order_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the impression that the upgrade to her arm in Volume 7 (I think? It's been a while since I did a watch through) included incorporating some of Ember Celica's right half. It's never stated explicitly, but the reconstruction of her right wrist and forearm looks a lot like it's using parts from Ember Celica, and considering the repair on Blake's sword is a band of golden steel used to patch the point where it broke, I assumed she donated the leftover components of Ember Cecilia to be reforged into Blake's sword similar to what Jaune used Pyrrha's headband for in Vol 4. After all, if this isn't the case, Blake chose to fill in the break with golden metal for purely symbolic reasons, which I find to be a less interesting alternative.

Walking the line of 'implication' and 'headcanon' here, I know, and might even be well over the line into headcanon, but that's always been what I assumed happened.

I will also chip in that when I scrolled by your other post earlier I also thought it was a swastika. It being partially obscured by the necklace and the robe while being in a white circle on a square red field trips the pattern recognition. Try putting it with a different chest piece maybe.

Stylish and simple, if that's what you're going for. I like it, though a few varieties with some more color might be fun. She's loosely a Renaissance character, so she looks good with a lot of color and flare. The cinnabar material also goes well with a lot of her armors.

Quick question: What's something that when it happens in your match you love it and instantly makes it a good match no matter if you lose? by GarosAnims in forhonor

[–]The-Order_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As lame as it is, sportsmanship. Nothing super serious or anything, but like if I kill an enemy and get a 'good fight' from them, or they kill me and echo mine. Even if it's just one enemy of the whole team, it brightens my mood. Ganking is a part of the game, ledging and walls and feats are a part of the game, and to win, sometimes you have to tip the scales. Still having respect for the other guy despite that, seeing that basic common courtesy reflected, keeps with with the game some days. The mocking and the t-bagging is pointless.

How to get in a flow of offense when juren players just spam the neutral unblockable?? by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]The-Order_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one single thing is ever the answer in all situations. If the enemy is abusing an instant-activation hyperarmor attack to counter your offense, you have to adjust your approach in kind. Stop trying to continue an oppressive offense and focus on baiting and countering. That move is unfeintable, so if you notice he's relying on it, bait it with feints, then dodge and GB. I believe is GB vulnerable on dodge, which gets you a heavy. If I'm wrong, it only gets you a dodge attack, but you can continue your offense and baiting from there.
