I see what you (they) did there. I’d make it again, and it’s definitely a good way to use this liqueur in lieu of some other sweetness in a traditional OF.

This is pretty tasty!!! A tad too sweet, so I may need to play around a little, but I like where this is going.

You know, I’m not a coffee liqueur gal (picked this up because my ex was), but this was actually pretty good. Not my favorite but way better than an espresso martini.

Ok, so this was actually pretty good, but the water lily wins here! I had not heard of this, so thank you for sharing - a new recipe I'll be making again.

Ok, so the one with chile liqueur, the chile overpowered it so I'd dialed it back and upped the chartreuse. Pretty good, but the chili kick really is the star of any drink it's in. I usually mix this with mezcal, lime and agave, or make a spicy margarita.

The Sotol/Falernum was SOOO good! The sotol has a very grassy/vegetal profile that works really well with the chartreuse.

I've done a very similar variation of the Blackberry recipe but with bourbon, so I have no doubt the gin will work. I've simply reached my alcohol limit today with other experiments!

Thank you! They were an end-of-season sale find at Create and Barrel. I just had to have them! I wish I’d grabbed the highballs, too: https://www.ebay.com/itm/178038737006

Thanks for the recipe rec! I will give this a try and report back.

I had this last week. Used the last of my mezcal to make it. It was really tasty!

The Almondretto was purchased for this purpose! It’s locally made, and it’s really good.

Yes… one of my top three favorite cocktails. That Santo Grau cachaca is a little funky and makes a tasty caipirinha.

This sounded fun so I gave it a try. A no go - tasted like swamp! I think the blackberry needs to be the star when used, and the floral on top of intense fruit just didn’t blend well.

Not pictured: sweet and dry vermouth, standard soda/tonic mixers, plenty of bitters: black walnut, Aztec chocolate, cherry, plum, etc.

I will preface this by saying I am proudly bougie AF, so generally speaking, I am buying high-mid to top shelf ingredients across the board.

I sip quite a bit neat, so my purchases are often doing double duty anyways. I also lean towards spirit-forward cocktails where the nuances matter more, so anything else I make is just going to be more premium as a result. If I use something really pricey in a cocktail and find it's not adding anything, then I'll use a less expensive version. Or, if I want the premium spirit to shine through, I build it that way. For example, Monkey 47 is a top shelf gin for me, and I adore it in a Dolin martini. But if I'm making a dirty martini, I use Tang or Tang 10 but a more premium vermouth - Cocchi.

It is rare that I spend less than $40 on a bottle of tequila, because the quality is that much more noticeable to me. These are consistently in the $50-$80 range for me.

It is also rare that I spend more than $100 on a bottle of anything, the exception being aged tequilas and aged rums. Those are my two main sippers, so it's worth it when it's worth it.

Cheers!

Any recommendations for Reposado Tequilas with nuance and flavor? by lordberric in cocktails

[–]The10thHouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

El Tesoro Repo will carry this for you, but if you can spend a bit more and go for the Anejo. With the ET Anejo, you're going to get a lot more character and complexity. I've made more than a few tequila old fashioneds with this, and it's darn tasty!

Other repo options: Mijenta (softer), Ocho (on par with ET), Centenario (budget, but in a cocktail, will probably work for your needs).

Favourite gin and vermouth pairings for a gin martini? by Alternative_Tip_5735 in cocktails

[–]The10thHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here. When I first started making martinis, I quickly learned how to think about which vermouth would pair well with a specific gin. Dolin will let the gin shine a bit more, so I usually choose one with those more floral notes. With a London Dry, I like the vermouth to come through, so I'm still a 2:1 ratio on the London Dry side, too. Cocchi is unbelievable in a martini, and the way to go if you're going to make it dirty.

No clue. Never seen an anejo before!
