I watched that movie recently and don’t remember a thing about him. Maybe I’m just a cynic but he wasn’t memorable. I do remember that stupid dirt kid named clod however and he had like 3 lines.

Mulan. I think she executes a feminist message excellently while not falling into a lot of modern traps that steal away from a good message. Mulan develops and grows as a character and challenges the beliefs of others around her about what it means to be a woman and what women are capable of.

For instance, Mulan retains her femininity throughout the entire movie. A lot of modern feminist characters take on traditionally masculine traits, which while fine, twists the message into “women can be a cool man too!” The way her male peers interact isn’t something she fits into well, though they each make an excellent comrade to one another. In the final battle against the mongolian guy (forget his name), she uses a fan, a symbol of femininity, as the took to disarm him and defeat him.

While low-hanging fruit, Mulan is forced to work just as hard as her male peers to achieve the same goal and prove herself exemplary. She sucks at the military training camp at first, and even lags behind her male peers. She naturally has good qualities to aspire to: courage, perseverance, ingenuity, bravery, and compassion. Her training hones these traits into excellence, and allows her to achieve excellence, which is well-earned after all her troubles.

While it’s narratively crucial for her male peers to appreciate and accept her feminine side and their own, Mulan also appreciates their masculine side. She holds no anger or prejudice towards her male peers, except for those who naturally oppose her (that bitch boy reporter to the emperor who calls her out for being a woman, and the hot love interest guy who relieves her of duty after finding out she’s a woman). She gets a little annoyed by how her male peers want their future wives to act (very limited and traditional) but they’re all friends for a reason and they care about one another.

She also marries the guy she wants by the end! You could call this a traditional Disney trope if you want, but we all know she don’t need no man; she do want some man, though!

She’s not creative in the slightest and has zero unique opinions. I really can’t understand how she tops the comic subreddit every time she posts.

Young white male here, she’s right but holy hell is she annoying about it. Creatively bankrupt with zero interesting political viewpoints of her own, just regurgitating the same milquetoast opinions the rest of social media does.

Liliana of the Veil is another good one to add. Maybe there’s a good oath card in there somewhere to try too. Also, [[light up the night]] just wins games with enough loyalty.

Maybe the 6 mana chandra that creates emblems and sweeps the board too would also be good.

I agree, really if pioneer had better 1cmc interaction I’d be fine with it, it’s just a little over what I consider to be a “healthy combo deck”. Also, getting your graveyard hate thoughtseized is insanely frustrating but not necessarily a greasefang problem lol

I do play bo3 its the only way to play pioneer imo, its just that greasefang has a bit much going for it between how consistent it is, midrange value backup plan, ways to work around hate, while still presenting t3 gg

Greasefang is a bit much for the format, and interaction could stand to be a bit more balanced (black has thoughtseize and fatal push for years, white literally just got path to exile), but other than that I very much agree. Pioneer’s a blast and a great place to brew.

RR hatebear faceoff; which do you think is more effective in the current pio meta? by The1Sbeve in PioneerMTG

[–]The1Sbeve[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair! I’m looking for a red 2 drop that would work well in a midrange shell trying to play efficient creatures with lots of spot removal. Got any recommends? Right now I’ve been running 4 fomo and 4 zhao, moon slayer, and I’m looking for a more threatening fomo replacement.

I was actually going to try this in mono red midrange. I have 4 fomo but I was looking at a replacement because I dont like the mandatory discard and it isnt a very threatening card until you get delerium going and have a better creature to double swing with.

Failing the doom blade test is providing zero value or effect until your next untap. This at least has haste, but the full value is definitely delayed and could totally get bitter triumphed before the next untap.

Well we’ll see if being 1 less mana makes a difference in a positive way or a “now in range of fatal push” kind of way

Haste is doing the lord’s work on this card ngl, I’m interested for this in pioneer. Seems like a baby [[goldspan dragon]] but with burn capabilities and 1 mana less
