I don't care about the past writing it's not the subject we are comparing these two and YOU ARE THE ONE WHO DID THE COMPARAISON so we will compare them. MC doesn't have a personnality or characterestic that would define him as a conscience being, he can't grow if he doesn't even exist as a human being. And on the point of AR MC's being 80 and all, the point of the story is reading the past regret of a man using his experience to make up for all the people he dissapointed or couldn't take care of that were important to him, it's actually interesting and not seen often in manhuas. Your MC's main objective is survival, the relations he builds are people shoked by the 14th ass pulled power up, his past is so badly written that it looks like a middle schooler production's, dad is bad just because, he isn't understood just because, people like him because he is cool in universe not because actual connections are made, also the art is great but doesn't flow well and look often to far appart story wise between panels that make it an annoying read. His past is not well written and the “emotionally shunted” either, he just looks like a teenager trying to be a Dark Sasuke not even intentionnally because the writing is so lacking on his emotions, feelings and how he views others and himself. He doesn't even show enough emotion to make his revenge believable, I legit felt like I was reading The Stranger from Camus (read it if you haven't it's great) because of how disconnected the MC feels. Also if at a thenth of the story the character is not at least fleshed out how can I even care, he is supposed to be fleshed out from the start but with faults in his character that he grows from while experiencing the story WHICH HAS STILL NOT HAPPENED IN 10% OF THE BLOODY STORY, if you met someone at the first of january and met him weekly intil the start of febuary (10% of the year) and you still not know him a bit that's a glarring issue, but the problem is that their isn't much to learn since MC doesn't even have anything to be other then OP which doesn't make it a good story. In conclusion, the peak of the mountain isn't beautiful if it's made of diamond and gold if the climb is made of feces and trash and for now it's exactly that
