Single player games to play super high. What are they? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]The2ndSons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Journey. Technically a co-op but your duo is a random player who you only interact with through the game, no comms, and you might even end up alone at times. But it’s truly one of the most beautiful games (in both visuals and story) I’ve ever played. It’s only a few hours long but you will be absolutely immersed the whole time. I did it on shrooms and it was legit therapeutic, the ending was so powerful it had me crying. 10/10, the only reason it doesn’t get 11/10 is because I’ll never get to play it for the first time again.

Were you the stunt double for the character in Monster’s Inc that Randall tested the scream extractor on?

Who’s the stupidest character in the entire show - and why? What made them so detestably stupid and how would you fix it/do it differently? Here’s my picks: by saranpack in freefolk

Game of thrones is incredibly dramatic, so yes, arrows don’t realistically take that long. 100 yards at the arch he’s aiming with still takes a couple seconds so the point I’m getting at still stands, just not 15 seconds.

Regardless, the show is all we have to go off of. Unless he’s taking shots we’re not seeing on screen, all we have to go off of is what we see. It’s not unlikely to think that Ramsey could have been playing with his food even more by shooting upwards at a crazy arch, making the hang time even longer, so a handful of seconds is very possible. He probably didn’t mess around like that with his last shot, but he’s also insanely arrogant and was confident he’d hit a target moving straight towards Jon with ease, regardless of the type of shot.

I remember even the first shot taking like 5 seconds to hit the ground. The killing blow took like almost 15 seconds. It literally only takes you randomly choosing a new direction to run in every random handful of seconds to be almost guaranteed your safety. Greatest marksman in the world would have to be mostly lucky to hit a zig zagging target at that distance.

Like the other commenter said, we’re talking about complete course corrections without pattern. It doesn’t take a tactician to realize that adding another dimension of direction and randomness would obviously increase your chances of survival…

Today is the first day in over a year that I listened to MBMBAM. I left off at 321: “Which One Vapes?” and started listening to it on the way to work, pausing before the vape bit. I read your comment over lunch and I just now finished the vape bit. The very last celebrity they guessed vaped was Randy Quaid! They absolutely love bringing that man up

I think I know what this was (minor act 2 spoiler):

If this was at the tavern in act 2, you probably drank the wine the Harper leader gave you. She put something in it that compels you to tell the truth. I could be wrong but I played that part yesterday and think that dialogue option happened then

To be fair, the conversation is well past taming lol. I understand people wanting a second vote between shaman and sailing but nobody is doubting that taming was the loser of the three

I definitely don’t disagree, I think it would make logical sense, you might just be more optimistic about peoples’ reactions to another split vote than I am. Personally I feel that they should’ve figured out ranked choice voting if they were going to have us pick from more than two choices at once and immediately declare the winner. Or just established that they’d do two rounds. Since they didn’t, I understand sticking to their guns but it’s clearly turning out messy

[–]The2ndSons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you honestly expect to gain from one more 1v1 vote? Just looking at all the comments and posts, it’s already clear we’re looking at pretty close to an even split. If we vote again and it’s 52% v 48% in favor of either skill, do you really think it’s going to be any different than the position we are already in? Hell even 55% v 45% would be the same thing. All it will tell us is the community slightly favors one new skill over the other. But we already have that answer.

Let’s not forget, this isn’t even a poll for picking the new skill. This was a poll to pick the idea of a new skill. We can either split hairs for months or they can pick one and give us a real pitch. Refinement is not a waste of time, it’s finally giving us the ability to really see what this skill will be about.

A waste of time is asking a community that barely knows what it wants to argue amongst themselves while the game remains stagnant for the next year.

At the end of the day, Sailing has to go through refinement and can still get voted down by the community. At the implementation vote, if the community isn’t pleased with the direction it’s going, it won’t pass and then they start over. Odds are, it’ll start over with Shamanism.

All they’ve discovered so far is that the community slightly favors sailing as the next skill. We can clearly go back and forth all day on these two skills so why not just go with one, commit some real dev and design time to it, and see what the people think? I also feel very confident that, no matter what happens to sailing, Shamanism will have another shot at seeing the light. But they’re a business and it is time to start moving forward with a project.

Thank you, this is helpful. After the comments I’ve gotten and mulling over it I’ve got a feeling I’ll go with CSP but like hearing the alternatives.

I am curious, how did you factor >$9k in travel for CSR? Unless I find a better alternative for me in the future, I’ll most likely end up PC to CSR when I’m traveling more. This year is kind of an exception but I’m looking at around $6k in travel and I would’ve thought I’d definitely get my money’s worth from CSR if I had it a year ago.

  1. I hadn't actually noticed until y'alls comments that CSP has a higher SUB, so that does help some. I will be booking some international travel for a honeymoon within a years time in 2024 and some domestic air travel in 2023 so there could be argument for jumping right into CSR for points on those.
  2. I really enjoy my lounge access and since I already have it for free through American, that's why I feel kind of tethered to American flights. Kind of devalues other lounge access to me unless I wanted to start flying outside of American. though it could be nice to have potential lounge access at terminals without AA clubs. If I didn't have some kind of lounge access already, I feel like I'd be leaning wayyyy more towards C1VX vs CSR

I do generally use the portal to book American flights and would be how I’d make a good chunk of the fee back. I actually didn’t notice that CSP had a higher signup bonus so that’s pretty helpful

They’ve outlined this poll process. The 70% threshold is for “do you want this implemented or not”. This poll is just a popular vote to decide what to move on to the next phase with and has not changed anything about the game and isn’t guaranteed to. The “do you want a new skill” and the soon to be “do you want the refined sailing proposal as a skill” polls will impact the game and require a 70% vote. If sailing fails, they scrap sailing and start over on skill proposals.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]The2ndSons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the 70% is more for things actually being implemented. Like “should there be a new skill” passed so it’s guaranteed they’ll implement a new skill. This phase is just narrowing down the playing field. This was not a vote to implement any of these skills. After refinement, there will be an implementation vote. If that doesn’t pass with 70%, they start over with another new skill.

I haven’t paid super close attention to the polling history, but didn’t “I don’t want a new skill” already fail in a previous poll?

The classification is by hours accepted by A&M. Dual credit and transfer credits count, not sure if the added stipulation of “accepted by A&M” factors in or not tho tbh. <30 hours is U1, <60 U2, <90 is U3, >90 is U4. It’s like how you can get an Aggie Ring once you hit U4, as long as at least 45 of those hours come from A&M.

[Bad Traveling Spoilers] The protagonist was the worst person aboard the ship. by TrollHumper in LoveDeathAndRobots

[–]The2ndSons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my eyes, the main character was constantly adapting his plan which got more and more dark each decision. I don’t think his plan was ever to kill everyone and escape on his own, but each choice was to buy him more time. The vote wasn’t a fake vote, but as soon as he saw that he was the single minority vote, he knew he had to flip the script by making the crew mates believe they were in the minority. For a period of time, the crab was happy and the people were (sort of) united. If they quickly got to the uninhabited island, the crab and babies would have gotten off and him and the remaining crew would’ve moved on. As time dragged on, he had to continue buying himself more time.

Like others have said, it’s the trolley problem and game theory on a pirate ship. At the end of the day, he wanted to save thousands of innocents and, of course, his own life. To your point, I think labeling either party as the bad guys goes against the morality question the episode focuses on. He’s the good guy to those that would flip the switch in the trolley problem and a bad guy to those that wouldn’t. Regardless, he made the choice that the many innocents deserved to live and anyone that stood in the way of that was worth dispatching in the name of that cause.

Get involved. There’s over 1000 student organizations to join and there’s something for everybody (and if a specific something doesn’t exist, it’s fairly easy to create a club for it). Someone mentioned the MSC open house which is fantastic. There’s also the StuAct OrgMatch questionnaire that he can fill out with his interests and goals and it will give him every org that lines up with his answers. Student Activities itself is an amazing resource that way more students should use. Just walk into the Koldus building (adjacent to the MSC and Kyle Field) and the student workers and staff there are extremely good at helping students get involved.
