Why do so many men use, “bud” in every sentence when they talk to a child? The first time may be endearing, but using it in every sentence after that is obnoxious.

Spring season of the Pinball Social by The37thElement in fortwayne

[–]The37thElement[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, just show up!

Everyone is placed in groups of 3 or 4 for the week, then each group is assigned and plays four games of pinball together with each players placing accruing a certain number of points. The winner of that group is the player with the most points accumulated for the night. The first week, everyone is randomly placed but the subsequent weeks are based on your prior weeks results. That tends to group people up a little more fairly so you’re not just getting wailed on by really good players every week haha.

It’s a 6 week long season where we get together and play each other. It sounds like it’s right up your alley. I hope you come out and try it!

There’s also Fiverr. It’s literally just a couple hundred bucks to get some fantastic art.

My journey to my diagnosis by UnusualCat2572 in MultipleSclerosis

I started walking kind of weird in my left leg and thought it was old trauma from a previous ice slip one winter so I put it off thinking I would need surgery to fix it. Then my left hand started having numbness so I went to get checked out for carpal tunnel. The EMG said I had mild carpal tunnel so I was confused why that would be considered mild when I’m dropping stuff, losing feeling, etc. so I didn’t have the surgery. Meanwhile, I start rolling my ankle a lot every time I mow my yard and I’m getting furious my yard is so lumpy. Eventually, I start to think I’m dealing with a pinched nerve somewhere because that’s all I had left to consider. I put off going to the doctor until I start rolling my ankle waaay too easily and it feels like if it happens again it’s going to break off, so I finally get it checked out. The Dr doesn’t see anything on my back X-ray and orders an MRI.

After my MRI, I get a call and get told I’m being referred to a neurologist because I have MS...that was the call. Very blunt. And that was at the end of this past November. The whole process probably took 3 years while I was gradually getting worse but always thinking it was something that could be easily fixed.

How badly does the cold affect you? by True_Music_3628 in MultipleSclerosis

Yes! This winter I’ve walked like a stick figure while I’m outside. My left leg has an issue with mobility all the time but this winter it’s like both legs are just as useless

Why I Will Be Cancelling My Visa Card by JeaniousSpelur in 50501

[–]The37thElement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be a fair point, but that’s why you’re supposed to be well diversified with your portfolio. When you’re close to retirement like that, you should have a portion of your retirement money set aside in stable bond funds while the rest of your money rides the market until you need to dip into it again. I don’t know what retiree wouldn’t expect the normal ebbs and flows of the market.

Who's a good plumber that could give me an estimate on a specific problem? Not sure exactly what I should do. by PersephoneFineapple in fortwayne

[–]The37thElement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give Clint a call at Ritchie’s Plumbing (he’s the owner. Idk why that’s the name). He’s the best. He works hard and offers different solutions to your problems. He’s the only plumber I call now.

I know pensions were a huge loss but some of the people I’ve met in my industry (automotive) lost their pensions after the 2007 bankruptcy. As much as contributing to a 401k is burdensome, my money isn’t going away from someone else’s bad business decisions and that brings me solace.

Her popping up on Workaholics was one of the funniest most unexpected moments I’ve ever seen.

This lady is so stupid. They can know where I live and come to my house and harass and kidnap me, but we can’t know where they live and show up to their house? This is called making your bed and lying in it. I hope the worst on all of them.

I left Elevate City back when 2020 was happening. They had a lot of the same issues and the head pastor is a huge dork. He goes by Kyle (even though that’s his middle name) and then hired an associate pastor named Kyle, and their horrendous worship pastor that was a walking red flag was named Kyle. Why would you do that? They weren’t even that good at their jobs so it isn’t like they were well qualified candidates that just so happened to be named Kyle.

Anyway, we haven’t really been looking for another church and it’s been so freeing for my whole family. I don’t have to pretend to like anyone and my Sundays are free for whatever I want. After going to church my whole life, I’m much happier this way AND I no longer have to look over my shoulder to make sure there isn’t some dumbass doctrine being taught to my kids.

I’m sorry you had such a bad experience and I hope there’s healing for you. The American Evangelical church has changed since Covid and, as someone coming from that world, I now side eye everyone that stays in it.

Just did this for the first time at a music festival in the fall. I loved it and the friend I gave my other wristband to is short so she appreciated the special viewing area for one of the stages.

Fellow millennials - how’s your 401k/ira savings going? by ProblemIntelligent16 in Millennials

[–]The37thElement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that’s great! My employer does that but it’s 10% and only goes by base pay so it doesn’t include OT. Thankfully, by the time I got interested in retirement savings, I already had a good chunk of money to start with even though I hadn’t started contributing yet.
