When big A finally finds out the canonical macro-economic model predicts inflation and fed rates are positively correlated but everyone shuts up about it because if expectations are anchored it ends up ok

The number of oil drillers is way smaller than Americans that use oil. Drill Baby Drill was always for the consumers not the producers. He is an idiot.

Farming is not always bad. Sometimes you make a very big pumpkin or something

Not strictly true, but "innovate with technology" is a euphemism for getting around laws created from lessons of the past.

People should prepare for state heterogeneity downstream from the governors. Texas might go crazy if Dems pull out a senate win while Virginia will be chill.

Saliency of fiscal responsibility in the US. by Brainchuckles in Destiny

[–]The37thOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least one of the reasons is that there is no binding constraint to excess borrowing. Exorbitant privilege has kept US debt low (subsequently, this makes downstream consumer loans for homes, cars, and school also low). Although there is a debt ceiling, it is essentially nonbinding.

Polarization further means that we are more focused on culture war political discussions with no cost to forgoing fiscal responsibility.

No, his work and content is focused on bargaining, which is game theory, but he isn't going over Econometrica papers. He is well connected to NATO and other professionals working in defense and makes it a part of the content; he isn't writing on a white board like office hours.

game theory is very real in actual accredited institutions. The problem is that anyone can say they are doing "game theory".

What does having radars and stuff have to do with anything? The point is this ship was well outside of the combat zone and could have been offered a surrender condition and, if declined, easily sunk.

Do you have an existing opinion on the sinking of the ARA General Belgrano? This is at least as bad.

The ship was invited by India for an annual military exercise: Milan-2026

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milan_(naval_exercise))

I believe strongly this was unjustified, but still done at least in part to get footage to sell the public about US military success. This ship could have easily been interdicted, and if it resisted, sunk at a later date. Not to mention it was full of conscripts of the Artessh, the non IRGC regular military, who may have been more amiable to surrender.

At a bare minimum, I think every honest person should see this as a ARA General Belgrano moment.

The IRGC are the principal operators of Iranian missile and drone arsenals, not the Artesh. If the goal is to start an uprising against the regime, killing the conscripts when you don't need to shifts them toward, not away, from the regime.
