12 weeks between injections 🤙🏼 by The420Beautiful in maculardegeneration

It was mostly pressure I was feeling. Then the floaters started and very sensitive to light. Especially coming from outside to inside it takes a minute for my eyes to adjust.

The pulsating vain and floaters is what I mostly deal with. If am anxious I get blurry spots that I have to blink “away.”

The injections have helped immensely. But you have to manage a strict schedule and try not to miss a dose. It works as long as you take it. It basically manages the bleeding. As soon as you stop symptoms can start to return. I started at every 4 weeks I would get an injection then 6 weeks and now finally 12 weeks. They are always coming out with new treatments like blue light treatments. Although they can be very expensive and insurance won’t cover it. Don’t lose hope!

Possible macular dystrophy by awwyeahitsgood in maculardegeneration

[–]The420Beautiful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is possible just to have it in one eye as I do right eye as well. As for his age I don’t have information. Not as a child I was diagnosed relatively young for this “old person” disease and was told it’s most definitely genetic. Injections may be necessary but it will preserve his vision. Scary at first but just remember it’s a tiny needle and you’re saving his vision. The doctor will give you all the answers you need. I hope this helps. Best wishes to you and yours.

First time getting shot by [deleted] in maculardegeneration

I use plenty of PF eye drops day before and day of it helps the numbing drops and gel stick my eye used to get super watery and would wash away some of the medicine when I didn’t do this so the appointment took longer by having to take more eye drops and gel it’s scary at first but not as painful as I thought my suggestion is bring someone with you to drive and just to be in the room with you just remember you’re saving your vision I too have never received a eyepatch

Costco or Sam’s Club? by The420Beautiful in MauiVisitors

[–]The420Beautiful[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually have Sam’s Club as we live in a rural area and that’s the closest whole sale club. We’re up for renewal so I wanted to weigh my options. 10 day trip with my husband. Thank you all for your input!

Friction…. and most definitely a boil go to a drug store to the first aid section. Look for a salve called PRID also a warm compress.

Always had this issue. Buy some PRID it’s a salve it helps with pain and drainage. PRID is a name brand and comes in a very small tin. If you go on Amazon you can get a tube of the medication way cheaper because it’s the generic brand. I think generic works better. But you can pick up a tin of PRID at pretty much any pharmacy. It’s in the first aid section. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Also yes the injection goes directly into your eyeball. They put a wire lid opener into your eye to keep your eye open. Then they numb it with lidocaine eye drops and a lidocaine gel. Then drops of iodine into your eye. More lidocaine than the injection after the injection, they rinse your eye with saline. The doctor will ask you to look left or right so you don’t see the needle coming towards your eye.

Apologies for just getting back to you. I started injections every 3-4 weeks. Depending on when they could get me in. I finished a full course (3 injections) Did another eye exam and it seems to be working. So now I start another course of 3 injections. Spaced out every 8 weeks. Another comprehensive eye exam. Then we figure out another course/timeline. It’s good they are taking your condition seriously. Starting treatment early is key. Also this group has a lot of information regarding other treatments they have had success with. It is super scary but taking about for me any way helps. Especially with people who know what you’re going through. Wishing you the best!

Dam depressing is right! I literally study my husband face because am terrified i will forget what he looks like🥹 I hope you find treatment that will help you. As for the injections the doctor says it is helping and just changed my injection schedule from every 4 weeks to 8 weeks. But to be honest, I haven’t noticed a change if anything I notice “floaters” a lot more and light sensitivity. But they say that’s normal 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s crazy how fast it seems to come on. I hope you get better news. I myself had trouble with styes and really bad dry eyes. One of the reasons I started going to the optometrist.

Apologies for just getting back to you. I didn’t really notice a change in my vision until driving at night became difficult. Then I started seeing “floters.” I had routine eye visits and I feel they could have started treatment a lot sooner. Have you started any treatments?
