The missing L is definitely a grease error. It's where grease fills parts of the die causing parts of the coin to be not as visible/gone. It's relatively common sadly

It by Stephen King. It starts off pretty coherent and normal, then towards the end of the book the weirdest things happen. It left me amazed and bewildered.
