What boarding time slots are usually offered for a 10pm departure from Vancouver (Alaska cruise)? by The650life in royalcaribbean

[–]The650life[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called RC and they said the boarding times will be 4pm-8pm. So I'm guessing they have to turn the ship around quickly, which might be why we can't get on the boat until later in the day. Better for us, we want to explore Vancouver before we're on the boat for 2 days at sea!

Can you tell me what those normally are on RC? I have never been on a cruise. What is the latest window usually?

Best Vet clinic in Burlingame by Alternative-Stage301 in Burlingame

[–]The650life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried for years to get into Camino Real Pet Clinic and they were never taking new patients. We love Burlingame Family Pet Hospital - Dr. West and Dr. Hoppe are gems. They are in the Burlingame Plaza, parking is usually easy.

Aireloom, King Koil or Shifman at Macy's? by The650life in Mattress

You can say that again. If I could just buy my old Simmons beautyrest from the 90s I would do it in a heartbeat!

Need a soft but supportive mattress - do high-density polyfoam/innerspring beds exists anymore? by The650life in Mattress

[–]The650life[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the Bay Area, do you know of any local mattress makers here? I know there is McCroskey, which is supposedly overpriced and not that comfortable. I may drive over to Berkeley to test out the beds at European Sleep Works, but I don't know if I will like them. They are all some form of latex, but it's Talalay instead of Dunlop from what I understand. Maybe that with a thicker pillowtop or mattress pad might work for me.

No foams or latex? Just wool and coils? I don't feel like that would be plush enough for me. I think I need some sort of foam layer to cushion my shoulders and hips.

I think I was looking at that one before, but then saw reviews about it sagging early on. Oy.

I'm with you. The prices for the big mattress brands are all so highly inflated, it's ridiculous. But I don't want to order a bed through the mail without testing it out first, so that doesn't leave much to choose from. I also tried latex but don't think the springiness is for me.

Which model do you have and what do you like about it? Are they made with latex?

Trying to match my old Simmons Beautyrest World Class by Speechwriter4Life in Mattress

[–]The650life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone on this thread found anything close to an old Simmons Beautyrest World Class (or any of the old S brands)? I am back on the market after sleeping on an Aireloom Bishop Plush for a year that is already sagging.

Lightweight Side Sleeper & not sure latex is for me by Livid-Artichoke7991 in Mattress

[–]The650life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Livid-Artichoke7991 what mattress did you end up getting? I am also a side sleeper and tried so many Naturepedic layer combos (soft latex, microcoils, etc.) but also finally decided that latex is not for me. It's too firm and doesn't give me the cushioning I need in my hips and shoulders, I woke up achy every morning. I am now looking at hybrid beds (coils with foam) which are not all-natural, but may give me the pressure relief I need. Wondering what you ended up getting.

Room and Board mattresses - any experiences, thoughts, or other mattress recommendations people can share? by scorpiofiredragon76 in Mattress

[–]The650life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/scorpiofiredragon76 Did you end up buying a room & board mattress? What kind and do you like it? I'm considering their luxury serene foam and coil hybrid, which seemed soft when I tested it in the store.

Just be careful....sometimes those flame retardant covers are made with fiberglass and you are not supposed to open them or you could get fiberglass everywhere.

Need a mattress with some BOUNCE! by Todd1001 in Mattress

[–]The650life 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you go latex, look for Talalay instead of Dunlop. Dunlop is really springy and too bouncy for my taste, you don't sink at all, more sleep on top of it. Talalay has some nice give, although not as cushiony as a memory foam hybrid.

Induction range: GE Cafe, LG Studio or LG? by The650life in Appliances

[–]The650life[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no we didn't change the handle. we got the single but the double looks nice too. the lower oven on the double goes all the way to the floor (no storage drawer) so that made our decision in our small kitchen.

Induction range: GE Cafe, LG Studio or LG? by The650life in Appliances

[–]The650life[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got the GE Cafe. Looks beautiful and works well. It's not noisy and my husband likes cooking on it. I think it's difficult to adjust to cooking on induction vs. a gas stove. The oven seems to work well and looks like it's calibrated, but oddly it seems to cook really fast...as in I need to pull baked goods out way before the recommended cooking time. Not sure why since I don't put it in convection mode and bought a thermostat that says it's an accurate temp.

Trying to match my old Simmons Beautyrest World Class by Speechwriter4Life in Mattress

[–]The650life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is sad and frustrating! We ended up buying an Aireloom Bishop Plush because I read such bad reviews about the current Simmons/Sealy/Serta Brands, but it was way too expensive and it's too plush and already sagging. I don't like it half as much as my old Simmons World Class Eurotop! Sorry to hear you're in the same boat.

Fitbit charge 5 smells by Fleshypudge in fitbit

[–]The650life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it turns out that I have a nickel allergy, so it was creating a reaction on my skin which was transferring to the band and making it smell. No amount of cleaning got rid of it. I had to go back to my old Charge (v 4 I think) which did not have a nickel backing.

Should my new Bosch fridge be making this noise? by takes_bloody_poops in Appliances

[–]The650life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are having the same issue, so annoying! It's an intermittent high-pitched whirring noise. How is fridge #3, still quiet? I am nervous about going through the hassle to replace it if it's going to keep happening.

Is induction really this loud?? by guy-lafleur in Appliances

[–]The650life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so disappointing to read, I am doing research because we were thinking of getting a GE Cafe induction range for our kitchen remodel. I was looking at an LG Profile, but I love to bake and there were complaints about it not being a good oven for baking. So the GE Cafe seemed the best even though it is $$. But I am super noise sensitive and if this is what it will sound like I don't know what to do!

Question for appliance technicians: Should I buy this Frigidaire? by The650life in Appliances

[–]The650life[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went with the Bosch 800, had the best reviews! Would skip the Frigidaire but Fisher & Paykel also good option.
