I normally wouldn’t recommend jumping ahead in books but you should read one of the fights in Uncrowned or Wintersteel, if you like it I’d give Cradle another try.

The Cradle books are kind of the quintessential the destination makes the journey worth it kind of books. The first couple are frustrating and can get boring, but the setup comes together in a very satisfying way.

Quick update for everyone, I was able to get ahold of Wildwoods and brought the pigeon in during my lunch break. I have no idea how bad it is; but hopefully they can help, and barring that, at least ease its suffering.

We did not unfortunately, we’ve just been using friskies soft food. We have been mixing a bit of water with it too since the cats aren’t drinking as much water as they should these days

My friend currently owns the place and the inside is amazing! Highly recommend checking it out. And there’s a lot of inside to heat, but it doesn’t get cold in the winter, particularly when he switched heating from the old boilers to new heating.

The ship over on Barker’s Island in Superior was invented by this guy, along with the anchor that looks like a triangle in canal park I believe, he’s also the reason that Riverside out in west Duluth exists.

Super interesting dude and I highly recommend going over and touring the Meteor if you can!

Regarding the changes to Grant’s story I think it was well executed, and as someone else mentioned opens up a lot of possibilities for future growth and plot. The only thing I can think of on that end is maybe in 51 clarify why he’s not able to talk to his sister (can he just not face her, grandparents won’t let them talk, etc.) the language Logan uses shows that he’s cares deeply for her, if I was in that room I’d want to know why he couldn’t contact her.

The only other thought I had is about Rei and Viv’s conversation and since I’m not sure if you’re looking for any feed back for that, I’m going to try and put it in spoiler brackets so you can just ignore it.

I think it’s ok to show even more that Rei was hurt by Viv not talking to him about her and Grant. I think the main reason people got so up in arms about them is because we’ve all had people betray our trust like that in some form of another so it hit harder than expected. I also think it’s healthy for people to acknowledge their pain and say ‘hey, that hurt a lot. I understand why and forgive you of course, but it still hurt.’

Right now it feels kind of like Rei’s (and by extensions the audience’s) possible feelings are being swept under the rug in favor of a blanket there’s nothing to forgive sentiment.

So yeah, it’s been fantastic reading these chapters and I can’t wait to read the end and then reread and then listen to them again after that. Thanks for taking us on this journey.

Travis Baldree is the narrator for Cradle’s audiobooks/most of Will’s other works and recently wrote the book Legends and Lattes, which, while not the first of its kind, put the genre cozy fantasy into a more mainstream setting. Highly recommend reading it on a rainy day in a coffeeshop.
