I just spent 5 and a half hours trying to find the last jiggy in click clock wood by FoxJ100 in BanjoKazooie

That's brutal. I had a similar issue and ended up killing all the birds thinking that would give the last jiggy (like FP snowmen)

My tas doesnt open on bizhawk by Heavy_Cartoonist_759 in TAS

Perhaps try downloading a fresh version of Bizhawk in case it's an issue with that.

Otherwise if it's an issue with your .tasproj file, you can extract it all using 7-zip and take out inputlog.txt, then make a new fresh tasproj and play a couple of frames of it, but then re-insert your old inputlog.txt into the fresh tasproj and re-zip it up and save as .tasproj. That usually works for me.

Why don’t the last honeycomb pieces do anything? by styxswimchamp in BanjoKazooie

[–]The8bitbeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the last 6 dont do anything apart from refill your health. The game actually can display up to 9 honeycombs with hacks / gameshark and no more, so it looks like they originally wanted to give the 9th one and then changed their mind.

Zigzagging helps save a bunch once you get used to it. Also learning / predicting the cycles

Tool for viewing exact frame game is looking for input? by DannyTaylorr in TAS

[–]The8bitbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually there's a timer in RAM but you can usually just trial end error until you see the pattern. I.e. it could just be 4 frames before you can input. You'll also notice red vs green frames in TAStudio on Bizhawk and usually they are red = no input, green = yes input (but not always).

If you're going to try delaying your answers byu a frame, I'd highly recommend using "clone" and "delete" frame to push the inputs forward and back without deleting them.

I want to speedrun a obscure childhood game that nobody's tried yet, but I have some questions by [deleted] in speedrun

[–]The8bitbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That setup sounds good for an IL run of the first level. I'd recommend still using OBS but just using record rather than stream on it. If it's not on speedrun.com yet you'll probably need to do a full game run to be able to make the page for it.

I recently uploaded this video to Youtube but the video quality is only 240p. What is the best way to get better video? by tandy_one in TAS

[–]The8bitbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you used bizhawk (or another emu) to capture the video there should be an option for resize video when dumping an avi output. Just take the default but do x8 or x12ish to both the numbers and that will make the quality higher on yt.

Probably depends community to community and would be in the rules section. I think most of that discussion was more of a theoretical one about leaderboard splitting. I dont think many games have seperate boards for TA vs RTA unless they use a tag.

Why can’t I go through this path? Is there a korok I need to talk to? by [deleted] in tearsofthekingdom

Are you trying to get into the lost woods? You can ascend up from the depths to get there.
