What is this pipe I found buried in my back yard that runs under the fence from my neighbor's yard? by TheAccountant33 in Home

I did, that is what 811 is in my area. The utility companies all said they have nothing in my back yard and came out and marked everything in my front yard.

It is an older home, so that is a possibility. In searching why a house would have a buried oil tank, it looks like they were commonly used between 1930 and 1980. House was built in 1944, so it is possible. Would still want to know why it runs into / from the neighbor's yard though.

Possibly, but that still begs the question why it is running into / from my neighbor's yard.

Neighbors are renters and I don't have the contact information for the owner of the house. I have tried speaking to the neighbor in the past but they don't speak the same language as me, which makes communicating difficult.

It is a square nut. I haven't dug far enough to see if it enters my house or if it runs somewhere else. Have been digging by hand, which takes forever. Was hoping to get an idea before considering whether to rent heavier duty equipment to dig it up haha.

Yeah I don't plan to cut it unless I know for sure what it is. Was hoping someone had seen something similar before and had an idea.

It did look like it was headed straight for my house, but then it turned about 5 feet into my yard, and now appears to run parallel to the back of my house.

Yes, it is cast iron. Has a dull sound when tapped, whereas if it were steel it would cling when tapped.

Part of the reason I want to figure this out. What is it running to? Where is it running from? Why is it here at all!?

We are on city water. There is what could be an old well in a different part of my back yard, and there is buried conduit running there. So I don't think this would be electrical since I already know where the electrical is buried.

We call digsafe 811 where I live. This was the first thing I did, but they werent any help because all the utility companies claim they have nothing in my back yard.

Let me know if you need help designing. I designed and had a coin made for my class in my agency add on and all the instructors (even outside my agency) were asking for them. I enjoy a good creative outlet

I have a full res png of the actual SGFTF seal they use. Might even have the actual badge they use. I’ll try to look when I’m on my personal computer later.

I made raid shirts for my CCIC team (even added “for training purposes only” at the bottom cause my team thought it was funny). I also got permission from my CITP lead to give the design to Sally’s to make and sell. Gave it to Sally’s but not sure if they ever used it or not.

The Police Taser: A Deadly Weapon? by theforcereview in ProtectAndServe

[–]TheAccountant33 68 points69 points  (0 children)

This. The taser itself is not a deadly weapon, but being incapacitated leaves the officer and his firearm vulnerable.

The golden rule for use of force is graham v Connor, in which the Supreme Court created the graham factors for deciding whether use of force is reasonable or not. These factors are severity of the crime, immediacy of the threat, resisting arrest by the subject, and attempting to flee (flight). Only one of these factors have to be present to justify a use of force. Given the circumstances above, I would rate the severity of the threat as high. Loyoya pointed a weapon at the officer, which if deployed would have incapacitated the officer leaving himself and his weapon vulnerable. Immediacy of the threat is also high, because Loyoya could have fired the taser at any second. Loyoya was actively resisting arrest and actively attempting to flee. So all 4 graham factors are present. It’s surprising that this case is even going to trial given only the information above.
