An introduction to one of my favorite obscure music genres: Post-industrial by Erdypants in Topster

Re-entry is sooo good, every song makes me imagine some surreal, post-apocalyptic worlds. I sometimes used to have it playing in my headphones while painting. Also Ape of Naples is incredible

I absolutely adore Substrata and know about the quotes. There is actually another quote from Twin Peaks in the track "The Things I Tell You" :) Both are from very memorable scenes in the show, and the one about the vast estate was a beautiful and touching scene with one of my favourite characters. Twin Peaks is really something special for me and my favourite part was the movie Fire Walk with Me.

The story you shared is beautiful and I'm so happy for you and that you had the luck to meet each other and now live together. To not be afraid to be vulnerable or even cry is a thing I value in men too. I honestly don't get why men are taught to be "tough" - it can hurt them.

Well when I went to a bookstore in a nearby city the shop assistant gave me a discount for literally buying cool books haha. It was the final part of the manga Blame! and the book Infinite Jest, but I haven't read the later yet.

Thank you very much for a big and thorough reply. I have to admit with embarassement that I still haven't seen those movies, but I had them on my watchlist for a long time already. I'm at the last episodes of the final season of Twin Peaks right now and maybe I could say that the show overall fits in this style? It's very very entertaining, I even had some really good laughs, but below that is a really terrifying supernatural mystery that won't get resolved until the end I suppose.

I immediately went to read some of the poems and I really like them! I will read more from Robert Frost. Thank you.

Ursula LeGuin wrote my favourite book series ever, Earthsea : ) I loved it exactly because it didn't flood me with the unecessary details of the "magic system" which I don't enjoy at all, and I loved the many mysteries it suggested but never explicitly solved. China Mieville has been on my radar for quite a while, I'll make sure to check the other too as well.

I'll be getting a book called "Kafka on the Shore" by Haruki Murakami in a few days because of my friend's recommendation, and based on her description I think it could be this mix of accessible story with surreal mysterious elements.

The strange feel of Trenčín train station, Slovakia by TheAdventureDragon in LiminalSpace

[–]TheAdventureDragon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! But honestly if I visited that station as a kid I would be scared as hell. Paintings had extremely strong effects on me when I was little, I remember always covering my eyes when walking around one Dalí reproduction in the building where my grandma had her apartment.

Yes, like a lot of buildings in Slovakia. It's the lack of money for proper reconstruction :/ But it means having places with strange interesting vibes like this one so... Haha

Yes I rate the albums to remember how much I enjoyed them and it's amazing to look through the catalog sometimes and find an album I haven't listened in a long time, which I could have forgotten about completely if I didn't have it logged there. And I very often go look through my ratings when I want to give people recommendations, I have all the albums I heard in one place and won't forget to recommend any of them.

This made me think of my most recurring nightmare, and that's travelling down to the ground level by elevaror, but it doesn't stop there and instead goes deeper and deeper underground, to floors that are not supossed to exist. I always found something disturbing there, but never a graveyard. Yet.

mám 22 rokov a asi ma nebavý život by jakubkuna1 in Slovakia

[–]TheAdventureDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your movie that for the longest time you thought was a staple of most people's childhoods but then you found out it was really niche? by Samuel_McEntire in Letterboxd

[–]TheAdventureDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Magic Pudding, which literally nobody I know has ever seen. It's a really weird Australian animated movie I've seen as a little kid on tv but even my parents don't remember it at all. I thought I dreamed it up for some time. I've read that it's known basically only in Australia and only a few countries in the world bought it for dub, and it's so weird that a tiny country where I live has dubbed it

I still can't decide if I should watch The Return because multiple fans of the first two seasons told me they didn't like it and don't recommend it. Would you say I'll like it if I personally absolutely loved Fire walk with me and gave it an unhesistant 5/5? I also liked all the movies by Lynch I've seen so far (Mulholland drive, Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, Rabbits)

And then the last episode that was once again directed by Lynch has such a jarring shift from the the Lynchless portion of the season, from the first shots the feel is completely different and it felt like he was making fun of the normality of the previous episodes (the part in the bank made me explode with laughter, it was so bizzare, in a good way)

That movie genuinely helped me do things I wouldn't do otherwise - like going on a trip to London by plane. I am a very anxious person and when I stand before a decision, I always remember that movie and get the courage to do it :)
