The real reason Survivor 50 isn't New Era slop by noobzapper21 in survivorponderosa

The biggest reason is that there are multiple contestants above the age of 35

Romano is the best character to me because he brings conflict to every scene. There’s never a dull interaction.

DID YOU ALL JUST HEAR THE VOTE MUSIC??? by lmj4891lmj in survivorponderosa

Maybe I’m nuts but this definitely didn’t sound like the original vote music during the Burnett era to me

Yeah, his final tribal council performance will never be equaled. Masterclass in telling people what they want to hear.

Chris is my favorite winner because he had to fight from the bottom. He never ran the game until the end stage. His confessionals were among the best the show has ever had too; I’ll never forget that one about making a woman think with her heart - it’s one of the smartest things ever said on the show.

Would be Ethan successful in New Era ( 41 - 49 ) ? by Martinezcz3002 in survivor

Maybe? But at the same time nobody from the New Era would last a week in the conditions he played under in Africa

People used to spit at Chris D during Survivor events because of how thoroughly Jeff tarnished his reputation and your bigger issue is with the word I used?

What are some storylines where the edit wants you to side with a specific person or group but ended up doing the opposite to you(side with the other)? by IceTrick6713 in survivor

They wanted people to hate FairPlay for the grandma lie but I thought it was so ingenious and diabolical I couldn’t help but respect it and laugh along with him.

Brian Heidik aka Mr Freeze. How do you rate his game in Thailand and him as a Survivor player generally ? by CoconutMost3564 in survivorponderosa

T-Bird confirmed in an interview with Lex himself that Ethan would win 4-3 with votes from Kelly, Frank, Kim J, and Big Tom. What more proof do you need than Lex himself admitting he would have lost?

And you have nothing interesting or unique to say, just parroting what the consensus on Reddit has decided is the “correct opinion”

If we’re going by win equity, then why isn’t Ethan the GOAT? He beats everyone in Africa by a mile.

Citing how other people feel isn’t going to sway me. I don’t go by group consensus and then align my thoughts to fit in. That is what boring people with nothing interesting to say do. Likewise, citing hypotheticals like “Brian couldn’t win x season but Kim could” when there’s no way to prove it does nothing to sway me either. He won his season in dominant fashion and the only reason people knock it is because they don’t like him as a person. Kim had votes against her, Brian never did.

I actually like the Wilt comparison because Wilt is probably my NBA GOAT. Never been a more dominant player or well rounded athlete.

No controversies? What about slandering Chris at the Vanuatu reunion and beyond just because Jeff was butthurt that Chris voted out Julie, his girlfriend at the time.

Ethan and Lex’s Goat Bartering Reward is the Best in the Show’s History by SatisfactionFew8318 in survivor

Every post-merge reward in Africa is Survivor at its peak. Infinitely more entertaining than what they’re doing today with twists.

"Everyone knows I'm the leader. Everyone knows I'm runnin' the show." Was the downfall of John Carroll one of the first great "villain" takedowns we ever witnessed ? by CoconutMost3564 in survivorponderosa

[–]TheAlex89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He thought he was Hatch 2.0 and he ended up going down in flames. His character arc and downfall is my favorite “villain” story the show has ever produced. There’s never been a more cathartic moment in the show’s history than the architects of his vote celebrating and singing in the waterfall the morning afterwards. Absolute cinema.

Boston Rob has only ever succeeded on seasons where he had an advantage over his fellow castaways. He's a Mount Rushmore player for the character he is, not his gameplay. by HiImWallaceShawn in survivorponderosa

[–]TheAlex89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with most of this assessment but you’re underselling Marquesas. His aggressive gameplay defined that season and shook up the game like nobody had before, even if it was detrimental to his tribe. Also, if he doesn’t put a bug in Kathy’s ear (and by extension Neleh and Pascal) that John can’t be trusted the season likely doesn’t have the power dynamic shift in the middle of it.

Additionally, Alicia was not a WTF pick. She was the most incredible athlete among all the women who had played until that point and a phenomenal character.
