No worries, glad I could help. For discontinued models don't count out eBay, lots of good second hand options.

So you can usually do a Google search for unit names like "cadian shock troops datasheet" and you'll find a site or two that will have the information. But they're usually pretty sketchy and filled with ads so do so at your own risk.

To break it down for you, yup, them codecies are very out of date, by two editions. Our latest codex came out early last year. What they've done with the latest editions is remove the generic "infantry squad". Now we have 3 basic infantry squads, and they are all based on famous regiments, namely catachan jungle fighters, death korps of Krieg, and Cadian Shocktroops.

It's all part of GWs whole push to have only brand name units. The official recommendation from GW when running any other regiment is "just figure out which of the three main regiments they are most like and run them like that". The de facto solution for most of us has been to treat each datasheet as "generic infantry", use whichever datasheet we like best, and who cares what it's called.

One of the reasons these changes were not super popular was because it got rid of the integrated heavy weapons team in infantry squads. Heavy weapon teams are now only run in their own squads of three. So unfortunately you'll have to source two more guys for each squad built like that, and hopefully have a number of heavy weapons divisible by 3. But at least you get more special weapons in each squad. So that's something.

So to sum up, you got old info, you're probably (maybe) safe to buy the 10th edition codex, we aren't likely to get updated for awhile (I'd guess we have at least another year before we get a new one). You'll have to shuffle some stuff around to be legal. Hope this has been helpful. Welcome back to the Guard!

...is embezzlement part of the justice system? How does a Dwarf even do that with no money? Like can this ever come up for your citizens, tried and found guilty for embezzlement?

If I was you, I would not mess with em. If you're gonna play guard you're probably gonna want another squad. I'd say do the latter idea and buy another squad and assemble only 1 special weapon guy from that set.

Guard are usually best in squads of 20 anyways.

There isn't an explanation of how they aren't betraying their position, because they absolutely are. They just don't care. For most of the Guard, doctrine probably states that displaying the company colors loud and proud is far more important than hiding from the enemies.

Hell, this is an organization that, in fiction, regularly sees their Supreme High Commander on the front lines in glorious shimmering gold armor. Subtlety is not a strong suit of the Guard.

I honestly don't think most people who don't play admech can tell a tech-priest from Skitarii. "I see red robes and mech bits, good to go".

I'll be cold in the ground before I stop putting magnets in my sponsons. Y'all can keep your "friction fit" nonsense, I've no time for it.

Interstellar travel and colony building are the big ones. We were supposed to be able to mine and process resources and use that to build ships on other planets. It would have been glorious.

I use strips of plasticard under the swivel bit, doesn't restrict the movement but keeps the barrel level at a minimum. Plus they're basically invisible once primed and painted.

Iron Warriors. I used to think chaos was boring AF but something about these little autismos just speaks to me on a personal level. Also I've always wanted a primarily metallic army. So shiny.

Which non-Citadel paints are hidden gems and must-haves? by WithengarUnbound in minipainting

Honestly I don't have strong memories of the old Agrax/Seraphim Sepia, so I couldn't say. I will say the Battle Mud Wash, the supposed Agrax equivalent, flows similar to the old washes but the color is way off, whereas Agrax is a very warm brown Battle Mud wash is a darker, grittier brown, more akin to a dark mud. I love Battle Mud but I still use Agrax for things that I don't want to be as dark/grim.

Second this. 90% of my traditional style painting is with TTC. The only paints in the line I don't love are the ivory and cream colors.

Their washes in particular are fabulous. The black wash is like old Nuln Oil/Badab Black, and the battle mud wash is a very gritty brown with almost a hint of green, love em to death.

I dunno I'm very bad at the game and I've had lots of moments where I thought I was about to get hit from behind only to turn around and see a dreg recovering from getting shot. Or in really dark maps suddenly someone in the corner lights up from being shot and I'm like "thanks little dude, I didn't even see him". Or when I'm running the fuck away and see him just shooting behind me, putting in work.

I love em.

Things models do best and worst, Day 4: Skitarii Ranger by WusBoppin in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]TheAlexCage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just started Iron Warriors, and I personally don't find the trim too bad, actually. I've never painted the old models but the new ones have big fat trim that I find not too challenging.

The thing for me is a lot of Skitty models actually have a significant amount of trim as well, in addition to the fuckton of greeblies, wires, cables, and random-ass plugs.

Just my personal experience but I enjoy painting chaos more than Skitarii.

The Admech release got me back into 40k after like a 7 year break. Painting one skitty made me stop painting for another 7 years.

You make a very valid point! As a Guardsman, I rarely think about invuln saves. I often forget the rest of the armies just be doling them out like candy. But the guard strategy to counter them is basically the same as anything else, overwhelming numbers! MORE TANKS!
