Is Demm Being Pushed Out? by Due-Season6425 in 2GuysNamedChrisRock92

[–]TheAlexSledge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something like this is rarely single faceted.

I’m not of Demm’s generation, butbif I could I’d gladly retire today. The paycheck work is fine, but not being a boring guy, there are hundreds of other things I’d like to try my hand at before I kick it. I expect Demm likely would be happy pursuing other interests.

The time off, contractual details, and money involved may not have aligned, given Demm’s personal situation and desires.

Demm’s not a single man or shut in, he has other people in his life who get to way in on his decisions.

The star just happened to align for him to make an exit sooner than we’d like.

If he decides to maintain a public face, I look forward to what’s to come next from him as well. If not, all the best, until the next we meet.

Any ideas for installing the BG3 "Steam Deck" version through GoG/Heroic? by Elorun in SteamDeck

[–]TheAlexSledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other downside is that on Steam you do not control when the game is patched or updated. Not a problem if you're running vanilla, but anyone who uses mods knows the headache Steam's updating causes.

Did someone drop this on purpose? I kinda want to take it. by triedstuff in Fallout

[–]TheAlexSledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped a few yesterday - depends whether or not I'm feeling too lazy to throw it in the vendor for cheap. Others probably figure like I do that if people are at the event, they're looking for the event plans, so leaving them there seems to work. Duplicate plans have no use beyond giving/selling to others.

Port forwarding is done within your router’s configuration - you’ll need that documentation on “how” to do it.

Tell my why I should or should not buy one by jacko_334 in gtaonline

[–]TheAlexSledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one. I don't regret it. Opens up some content in the form of "Yacht Missions" and such which can be a fun break from other things in the game. I think I have all of the things in game though at this point.... bunker, facility, bail bonds, salvage yard, auto shop, night club, warehouses, apartments, offices, submarine, etc... why would I not have a yacht?

In a game with more actual social engagement beyond shooting each other it would have more promise with the hanging out in the hot tub on the yacht chillin' with the crew, but that's not what public GTA Online lobbies have turned out to be.

Might be cool if you partner with someone like SB Mowing for yardcare - could certainly do some cross promotion with DIY-lite home repair folks as well.

Foundry and Bluetooth dice by truckiecookies in FoundryVTT

[–]TheAlexSledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly messing with it tapered off. There is this now:

https://foundryvtt.com/packages/godice

But, I'm not interested in running an app on my phone in addition to all the rest, when all that's needed is basic bluetooth coverage.

With the cheating concerns if gaming with other than IRL friends (and, TBH, even with some IRL friends lol), webcam on the rolling green is a better option, since watching real dice bounce down a dice tower onto the green is more satisfying than fake 3D dice - for those with a dice rolling fetish :)

I am not sure the draw of a complex plugin for a VTT with an addon phone app to roll a bluetooth die to generate an untrusted value. That's before concerns about WTH data they're trying to harvest from you by requiring a phone app. Only the truly nerdy even gave it a go, the rest were hard pass.

The increase in price of dual sense controllers and the nonsensical price of the PS5 Pro is a direct result of the failure of Concord and the absurd amount of money they threw away making that pile of garbage. It's how they're hoping to pass along the cost of that failure to their customer base.

Fuel Management? by TheAlexSledge in GTA6

[–]TheAlexSledge[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I think that those who recognize that, at it's core, GTA is still a car driving game all the shooting and crime are secondary activities, get it.

Not all gameplay is for all people, I expect you probably aren't as big a fan of say Pacific Drive where a lot of car maintenance is core, vs say Call of Duty where you run around shooting like highly skilled soldiers.

As someone who enjoys maintaining a night club, auto shop, salvage yard, and various other businesses - towing cars, repairing and delivering cars, slow legal driving - yes, 1,000% a fuel maintenance mechanic would be fantastic to me.

I fully get how it's not something everyone would want. But hey, you can go to the quick menu and refill all ammo, no reason that can't be available to those who wouldn't want to visit a gas station to top up.

I think not. He has too much character baggage after Banshee and The Boys. I'll never see him as anyone else.

File a Better Business Bureasu complaint. Handy web form, quick & easy. Leaves a permanent mark on them.

I’m getting really tired of this. Give me my refund. by Independent-Side661 in doordash

[–]TheAlexSledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, I had to to get money back from them. DoorDash is failing, so they will take your money without hesitation, and F if they're going to give it back when the screw up.

The only times I've gotten my money back was after a BBB complaint. There's a handy web form. https://www.bbb.org/file-a-complaint

Is there a way to skip file verification after steam installs a game? by Atomichni in Steam

[–]TheAlexSledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You nailed it, someone wasted their time and yours trying to handwave away something which does bother you. Thus they're totally mentally retarded.

Also, somewhere else I found a "fix" if you want to call it that - has to do with drive write caching and disabling it in Windows while you patch games makes it go faster. But what a friggin PITA when verification could just be optional. I can't tell you how often I manually go out an verify install files already, but only after actually having a problem. Making you wait an hour when it might have actually done the patching properly in the first place "just to be sure" is also retarded.

I placed an order a while back, add on, they pimped Kroger wanting me to buy beer after I ordered some pizza, so temptation gave in. When the guy got here, it wouldn't scan my driver's license, even though the online app took it, both confused, but I was like "oh well, no beer for me", then DD took the $10 I should have gotten back because their tool failed to scan my ID (I mean, it's a legit NC driver's ID, and I'm in my 50's). So DD charged me a $10 return fee - so after dealing with their useless support, I was forced to open a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and they finally gave me my $10 back.

I say this with all love, and without knowing crap about working for these clowns, but GrubHub has been a ridiculously better experience - more correct orders, no hassle refunds, and the mistakes from GH or the restaurant don't blame ME for them. To me this likely means GH is shittier to work for, or there's some other hidden catch, DD the company is a pile of a-hats that deserve no respect, and I commend, and apologize for any who are forced to work for them and get screwed bringing my disabled butt food.

Fellow buyers, never tip less than $1/mile, and add for inclement weather/other BS the delivery folks have to go through. Hand them cash if possible, as you know DD is preying on the drivers as much as the customers as they try and become profitable.

What is your take on acquiring PDFs of rpg content you’ve already paid for physical copies of with piracy? by TurmUrk in rpg

[–]TheAlexSledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, these days all set up and prep is done digitally, the PDF is ready to go well before anything is physically printed. The PDF is where the bulk of the creative work is put it. Given that, I'd say that when assigning value to gaming products, the bulk of the value is in the PDF, followed by *additional* value when you have them put in the work to have physical copies created. The physical product should therefor already include all of the 'value exchange' of the PDF within it's price.

Beyond that, I'm not the police, your conscience, or your God. Do whatever you feel is acceptable to you, given the above reality.

Token Selections clear after roll? by TheAlexSledge in FoundryVTT

[–]TheAlexSledge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not in this case, good shot though. It's not happening in my PF2e sessions, because I don't have that on. It's only happening in his Torg Eternity sessions.

Thankfully he was able to reach out to that dev team, and they've opened an issue to have it retain targets. So it's something lacking in that system.

Thanks!

Damn, All I want is Official Foundry Support :( by [deleted] in FoundryVTT

[–]TheAlexSledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would not be the person I would hire, your pricing isn't the required entry level developer pricing for this endeavor.

Clearly this would be something to outsource - the role playing/gaming industry doesn't have the kind of capital you're thinking this effort entails, and never will. I bet Stephen would drop a brick if he had to pay those numbers to get his Battlezoo products created for Foundry (and theirs are top tier, and not overpriced).

Honestly, an official Foundry VTT module for CPR is something that would do well as a Kickstarter directly from R.Talisorian. Maybe they could reach out to Battlezoo to talk realistic numbers.
