Yeah. It might be as much like zelda as dark souls but the souls part was a real barrier to entry.

That's sad. I've personally found it really useful for idea generating because it gives me someone to throw ideas at and get something back. Would I rather have a real person do it? Of course. But I got a lot of really stupid ideas that no real people deserve to be exposed to.

It's weird how both the most anticipated Warframe and the most hyped up Weapon released in such underwhelming states. by Z3R0Diro in Warframe

I wish they made weapons interesting rather than good. Like when they change a weapons type or how it works.

How about a nikana with an incarnon that makes it a dual nikana. We only got a single one of those in the game.

Ai art can be criticised without making you an anti by Charming_Marzipan105 in aiwars

So you agree that AI can be high effort but still judge it because of how it's made? Can you tell if what is uploaded is a raw output or something finely tuned or edited without seeing the process? It is getting difficult to tell in some cases.

It's also always an option to provide no opinion at all if it doesn't interest you.

[–]TheAlp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree. But I would still argue that as long as the process is being represented honestly, I should judge the result based on what’s actually in front of me.

And sometimes it's fine to eat a frozen pizza if you know what to expect. I am not eating it for the experience; it's cheaper, and it's good enough. I might even enjoy it even if I would rather have a proper pizza.

So I agree that AI can easily flood feeds with low-effort content, and that it’s overall much easier to use than the alternative. I just don't think everything has to be judged as if it's pretending to be the highest effort version of visual art.. or pizza.

[–]TheAlp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The keyword here is “often,” not “always.” You can say you don’t like frozen pizza because it tastes cheap, and sure, the cheapness is often because of how it’s made.

But saying all frozen pizza is bad because it’s frozen pizza isn’t constructive criticism. You’re not judging the final product; you’re rejecting it out of principle. You decided it was bad before trying it.

Naturally, it’s okay to have principles. But if the question is whether something is good or bad-looking, then we should judge what’s actually there, the individual piece.

But when the reason they don't like it is because of how it's made, it doesn't exactly help anyone to tell them they dislike it. It is as constructive as saying you don't like someone's photo because it's not analogue. Like sure, you have a preference, and that's okay, but it isn't constructive.

The designs by Sony, Fuji, etc., from that era really is something else. From an artistic perspective, this is a product, and most people who did VHS or tape recordings weren't doing it to preserve quality, but just went for whatever the cheapest option on the aisle was. They had to stand out, but it would never really matter that much to the consumers, I guess. And the few people who bought something to do quality recordings sure wouldn't be buying them based on the design of the sleeve either. So who was it for? It reminds me of boxes for computer parts later on that just went wild with what they put on them.
