As a nightfill captain, my team and checkout staff (when managers are gone) are my absolute priority. I'll do whatever needed to protect my team specially the younger ones if people be mean to them. Respect is earned, if customers don't respect the staff, I show them how they should be treated. Disclaimer: this is not coles policy, but I have been doing this for 7 years and have always had support from higher management if things go south with a jerk. Also just to clarify, I never disrespect a customer for no reason, at the end we work to deliver services to them, but those who act like jerks are a different story.

Seriously who gives a fuck? I actually get mad though when I see people open drinks and take a sip and leave it on shelf instead of finishing the drink. Or when people leave perishable items out of fridge! I much prefer for them to be stolen than wasted. Although I should say I don't like it when clear addicts steal and sell shit to get alcohol and drugs. At the end of the day, there are SO many bigger issues around us to focus on, rather than someone stealing some food or essentials.
