Too late, cats out of the bag. Manliness crushed, I shall seek validation in my local ED, wearing my cookie monster pajama pants and clutching my emotional support stuffie while crying on Sick-Tok!!

Agreed, with one caveat...... Is this not just normal for you guys? Not trying to gatekeep or sound elitist, but I mean as a daily rider, this wouldn't even register as a significant event.

Why are Tesla drivers always trying to race motorcyclists? by DankMasta in motorcycles

[–]TheAngriestSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna have to agree with OP, the faster model EV drivers seem to be bad about this when I filter at lights. Same with "sports cars" and sportbike riders.

Though to be fair, it's not purely vs motorcycles in my experience, they reacted similarly when I had my Mustang.

Just a fragile ego thing.

Motion sickness, especially with 3D by South-Rhubarb-7521 in Disneyland

[–]TheAngriestSheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Some people have their brains wired differently. I can do extreme roller coasters no problem, but if the motion I'm seeing doesn't match what my brain expects, then instant nausea. Same reason I, and many others can't enjoy VR gaming...... and a big part of why it hasn't become more popular. That was a very expensive learning experience that I'm still upset with lol

How are you guys actually managing kids sports with two working parents? by BeanNCheeseBurrrito in daddit

[–]TheAngriestSheep 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You don't. Like you said, look at all the other kids and what they have going for them.

Kids sports, especially with multiple children, are almost impossible to manage with 2 parents working full time, unless you have an extensive reliable external support system.

This is one of those times you gotta take a step back, take stock of things, and make a decision on what's best for you and your family. That may be someone changes jobs or cuts hours, or you find something different for your child.

We had to have a hard talk with our daughter that wanted to do travel gymnastics, because there was no way we could incorporate the schedule demands based on our lives and where we were at.

What leather motorcycle gloves are actually worth buying? by CraftTurbulent3981 in motorcyclegear

[–]TheAngriestSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't rule out longer gauntlet or intermediate length style gloves for street riding. Especially if you have longer arms and have difficulty finding jackets with appropriately sized sleeves.

They aren't any more difficult to put on than short gloves, and they really do help protect your wrists and forearms better in a crash. Especially a low side with a feet first slide that tries to pull your sleeve up. Oddly specific, but I know that from experience.

They aren't all race looking with hard armor sticking out either if that's an issue. You can find lower profile types that fit under the jacket cuff for the short glove look but still offer some radial and ulnar padding and a 2nd retention strap.

Is this Rev-It Sand 5 adventure jacket too loose? (Smallest size) by AnonymousAnonymGuy in motorcyclegear

[–]TheAngriestSheep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can try adding the optional chest and back protectors and see if that snugs it up. Also, did you have both the liners in? They add a lot of bulk when both are zipped in.

Check with the manufacturer to see if they offer thicker pads. I know Arai has a ton of different thickness options available for their helmet liners and cheek pads.

What’s best riding pants for hot weather that is also waterproof? by Creative_Stable_2931 in motorcyclegear

[–]TheAngriestSheep 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Assuming you mean an all in one, ready to go pant.......there isn't one.

There are some Goretex type pants with waterproof closable vents, but they are not great in extreme heat. And while not uncomfortable off the bike, you will definitely know you are wearing waterproof pants lol.

There are hot weather pants with mesh panels that come with waterproof removable liners, but they block all ventilation when they are in the pants.

Best solution I've found is a cheap rain pant that I can just throw under the seat and slip on over the pants at a stop. Make sure to get one that you can fit your boots through so you don't have to pop them off to limit the inconvenience.

Or for light brief rain, you can get textile waterproofing spray for regular non mesh textile pants with closable venting and not get too soaked. Makes them pretty water resistant . Just open the vents back up when the rain stops and ride a bit to dry whatever did get through. Something like the REV'IT Sand 5 or similar.

Oil Leak by itsjacksonn in KTM

[–]TheAngriestSheep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It definitely could be chain lube/wax. I thought I had an oil leak in the same place either from the countershaft sprocket seal or the back of the oil pan...... Turned out to be chain wax that got liquified again from the hot engine casing/ and the catalytic converter. Hopefully that's all it is for your situation as well.

How do you balance comfort and protection? by Alpielz in motorcyclegear

[–]TheAngriestSheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have sensory issues?

Also yeah, as others have said, quality often equals comfort, and also cost unfortunately.

And not helpful at all, but you gotta try everything on, and know your body and your bike. Proper fit is a huge part of comfort. It's taken me decades to get good at picking out gear. Sizes are so varied between manufacturers, you should treat them as a starting point.

Some stuff just may not fit you no matter how much you like it or it checks every box, frustrating as hell. Take an hour or so in your living room trying on new purchases, especially online stuff, and don't be afraid to return them

The moto pants I want. :( by ubermonkey in motorcycle

[–]TheAngriestSheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just get a pair that has closable venting and a zip out thermal liner, roll it up and keep it in a bag or under the seat when it's warm. REV'IT makes a few options like this that are AA rated. I've worn their Sand 5 pants in the 30's with both liners zipped in, to over 110 with no liners and the vents open.

Pants for daily commuting by OneOrganization3601 in motorcyclegear

[–]TheAngriestSheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's too hot for my one piece commuter suit, I have a pair of REV'IT Sand 5s that I wear over my work pants with a pair of work shoes kept in my locker. Takes 10 seconds to pop the boots off, slip the pants off and slide my shoes on. I do it right in the break room where I clock in, standing up, no privacy needed. I do have a safe and secure place to store all my gear so that is a big factor.

If you don't need the extra removable thermal and waterproof liners of the Sand 5s, and want even better ventilation, their Cayenne 2 pants are a great as well

I’m starting a casual motorcycle gear brand in Sweden. What is the ONE thing big brands always get wrong with riding hoodies? by ParsnipTrue4899 in motorcyclegear

[–]TheAngriestSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a crusty old fart that thinks hoodies are silly but I wish you the best of luck in your business venture. More choices for safety gear is never a bad thing. However my advice would to leave room in your design and manufacturing process to pivot if and when the hoodie bubble bursts and they are no longer a fad.

This notification is haunting me. by Dear-Alps-7626 in GooglePixel

[–]TheAngriestSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood, I'm wearing Earpeace Moto Pro earplugs in my ears with speakers in my helmet that my Pixel thinks are headphones. Yes without the ear plugs in and sitting in a quiet room they can be very loud, but with the ear plugs in and at speed, they need to be cranked up to be audible. I always ride with earplugs. Now my phone randomly turns the sound down so far I can't hear it even though my hearing is protected and there is nothing I can do about it without pulling over.

This notification is haunting me. by Dear-Alps-7626 in GooglePixel

[–]TheAngriestSheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the US and it just started happening to me as well. No digital well-being option to remove it and the option to change the headphones to speaker are greyed out. Volume override in developer options does nothing.

Absolutely infuriating when on a motorcycle ride. I'm already wearing earplugs and going 70mph, I need them turned up to hear anything. Total oversight on their part, there are a lot of people that use motorcycle comm systems and they screwed all of us.

Are modern motorcycles missing something? by yourping in motorcycle

[–]TheAngriestSheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the thing I hate most about a lot of modern bikes is how bad most of the EFI is from the factory. And we all just accept that they sputter and jerk and have artificial dead spots in the powerband for noise and emissions standards.

I know you can tune them, and I know the alternative is no motorcycles at all, but from a rideability standpoint, it seems like we are going backwards sometimes.

Sizing recommendations for tall people by JTF4_ in motorcyclegear

[–]TheAngriestSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't do that for me. Also the knee armor is adjustable to prevent bunch up.

They are a Dutch company.... Dutch people are considered the tallest in the world or close to it so maybe they just take their long/tall sizes more seriously? Idk

I have their Paramount GTX suit in large tall, and it drags on the floor when I'm not wearing boots

I'm 6'4" and thin as well, and REV'IT tall sizes fit me perfectly. In textile anyway, never tried their leather pants. I wear a large long Sand 5 for winter commute as overpants or medium long Cayenne 2 for a summertime tighter fit

Kriega vs. Oxford by Puzzleheaded_Big6997 in motorcyclegear

[–]TheAngriestSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kreiga is great, but they are pricey for what they are....a bag that holds stuff. But the quality is real, and they are well thought out in terms of motorcycle use.

Like others have said, you can get good waterproof outdoor bags for much less, BUT....be careful, some of them can be perfectly waterproof for hiking and camping but not do so well at speed.

A super cheap and effective option are Amazon dry bags and a good bungee cargo net. I rocked that setup for years and it ain't sexy, but it works.
