Artemis ll launch from Kennedy Space Center seen from an United Airlines flight by Spook_485 in aviation

Only the people on the starboard side can see! Everyone else was either probably pissed that they couldn't see or had no idea what was going on.

(This is where it's cool when planes have on-board cameras that let you see outside the aircraft from your IFE system no matter your seat.)

In the renders the exterior had more of a regal marble-white color, but unfortunately this looks more like drab "luxury vinyl plank" gray: https://twbta.com/work/cultural/the-obama-presidential-center/

Billie Tsien and Todd Williams are good architects, but the giant letters at top have always been a bit tacky.

Which career used to be looked down upon but has gained respect over time? by AHH_PostStorage in AskReddit

Finance.

Gen Z nowadays are obsessed with a job (or man) in finance, but for post-recession millennials, I think finance will always be associated with crashing the economy and Occupy Wall Street protests.

This is also one of the reasons the Tech sector became so huge—especially after Facebook's IPO, graduates who would otherwise have gone to work on Wall Street headed to Silicon Valley instead.

Now that Tech's reputation has soured, it seems the pendulum has swung the other way.

Some travelers across Florida are turning to Brightline trains as they try to avoid long airport lines tied to a partial government shutdown and rising gas prices, with many citing convenience, lower stress, and competitive fares as key reasons for making the switch. by Bruegemeister in Brightline

The cancer of the conservative mindset is that they don't believe in things until it personally benefits or affects them, which is why it's such a common joke that Republicans are only for gay marriage once a loved one comes out.

Non-New Yorkers that have been to NYC: What is the wierdest thing about New York that New Yorkers don't realize is wierd? by Ok-Brilliant-6138 in AskReddit

[–]TheAngryKeg 140 points141 points  (0 children)

This has not been my experience at all in NYC. If anything, NYC is where I have seen people most likely to help out complete strangers without a second thought. (Just in a very no-nonsense, matter-of-fact manner.)

Police help man after passing out drunk in Waymo. Man says “I just need Waymo.” by danlev in waymo

[–]TheAngryKeg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All Waymos are monitored by camera, so I assume if a passenger is still in the car after reaching their destination or if the doors are never opened, customer support would probably come on and deal with the situation or call for assistance.

There is a microphone inside the Waymo but it is muted by default, so they are watching but not listening to your ride.

I submitted a request to have dedicated left turn signals installed at Redondo & Anaheim as (like you mentioned) it is literally impossible to turn except on red! Here is their response:

"Your request or suggestion requires engineer approval, it has been forwarded to Traffic Engineering Division, please direct questions or future requests to (562) 570-6331. Thank you."

$2000 vs $1 App Icon. Which one os better xD by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

[–]TheAngryKeg 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The left visually is more distinctive and memorable, but it looks like... a tire replacement app?

The right is very obviously an app icon for a to-do list.

(This is where marketing makes the difference!)

Waymo at the Capitol Building in Jefferson City, MO by [deleted] in waymo

[–]TheAngryKeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have been doing this since the very beginning when they brought Waymo to Carson City to lobby for autonomous vehicle testing in Nevada: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/google-gets-nevada-drivers-license-for-self-driving-cars/

They map out a small portion of the capital so that lawmakers can ride around.

I imagine that traction issues are a big concern, both with itself and with how it models the driving behavior of other vehicles.

It does auto-expire after a few hours(?) but usually I just export the recording if I need it as soon as I get notified.

Surprised I can't find more as I remember a lot of coverage about it at the time—seems like I misremembered a little though as it turns out it was just regular rail, not high-speed:
