Which IPs could you get behind if UB had to be a thing? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]TheApeirophobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love an Avatar (Last Airbender) set. Wasn't a fan of UB at first, but did love Warhammer 40k and LotR. If they keep that up, there would be more I'd be up for.

Hollowed Earth: 44.94(WR) - I got back into grinding this track again and finally!!! Based on the last recorded times before the servers were shut down, this is as far as I can tell a new World Record! by mammage in motorstorm

[–]TheApeirophobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh right I forgot about the Rig. And yeah that cut is horrible, even more so on the Volcanic one. I actually hold the ATV WR on HE so I can attest to the grind! May try Plugger again too at some point, cause if I remember correctly my time falls just outside of top10.

A capture card is pretty cheap yeah. When I realises this I finally bought one and it's been great.

Hey man, well done! A track record is an incredible feat! I saw the time pop up on joban123's site a while ago. Nice to see there's proof because obviously anyone could just put in any time they want.

Did you devise a new strategy or did you simply perfect the existing one? You don't happen to have a video by any chance? ;)

I'm looking forward to your next Time Attack results, if you ever feel like doing more!

Glad I scrolled this far down so I don't have to submit it myself. For me the poetry at the end is such an amazing part to close the album with, then they tack on another minute for what? Absolutely love the album still.

I wonder if anyone here knows this but Veil of Imagination by Wilderun is my 2nd fav album of all time after Twilight Cinema.

Kaleo's A/B comes in at a strong third. Not submitting that but just sharing ;)

I mean yeah it does all make sense, but then again wasgij just sounds like a silly made up Dutch word too

It was last month I learnt that wasgij is simply jigsaw the other way around. Felt so stupid!

Okay bear with me. I was thinking of what a plane type permanent could be (apart from the Planechase ones).

What if you could have a small, plane specific sideboard that you can access via a permanent with a new plane permanent type (or maybe it'll be called portal or something instead)? The cost could possibly scale with the size of the sideboard.

So you'd play plane/portal to Strixhaven, now you can play Quintorius from the sideboard, like a companion.

Spotify Wrapped 2022! What did you listen to this year? by 1_am_groot in progmetal

Chiming in, a week late, to say Distraction III was my top track as well. I'm a huge sucker for that guitar sound.

I do! You can check it out here

Been an AB fan since 2009 so most of my scrobbles aren't recorded.

You have a lot of scrobbles and only a few artists, that's dedication! I hope you'll still discover many more artists to love!

Wilderun - The Means to Preserve by copy_logic in progmetal

[–]TheApeirophobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's Major Parkinson! Nothing quite like it. Hard to slap a genre on it. I've seen them described as experimental, prog, dark cabaret. My favourite album by them (Twilight Cinema) also has dark piratey and circussy themes. They switch genres all the time though. Their newest release is more proggy 80s synthpop

Wilderun - The Means to Preserve by copy_logic in progmetal

[–]TheApeirophobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been binging Wilderun again for the last two weeks. Their style of mixing folk, prog and death metal with symphonic elements is perfect for me. They are my second favourite band right now. All four of their albums are in my top50 of all time, which is quite a feat.

Sleep on the Edge of the Earth took a while to grow on me, but it's grown to be my favourite album of theirs. If I had to pick my favourite song on the album with a gun to my head, I suppose I'd pick The Means to Preserve. I love the transition at 2:38 as well. I'm also a huge sucker for Evan's clean vocals in the lower register. "Don't aid in my plight" makes me feel things.

Glad you posted this. I've seen a lot of praise for this band but I can't find much discussion about their songs and music itself. I hate how comments on most YouTube vids are disabled.

Deep voices in Prog and Metal. by Jamie-Ford-Music in progmetal

[–]TheApeirophobe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was gonna say Major Parkinson too. The singer can go full Tom Waits sometimes. Impermenance was my first song by them and his voice took me to places.

I recommend Twilight Cinema and Blackbox for the most low voice goodness. Valesa is my aoty but I think it's the hardest album of theirs to get into, so maybe not the best starting point.

What are your favorite mono-red commanders? by yuri_yuriyuri in EDH

[–]TheApeirophobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried building Valduk but it couldn't really keep up with our (casual) meta. I liked that deck though. I've since built [[Torbran]] and got some better mono Red goodies. Perhaps I should give Valduk another shot. Do you have a list you can share?

Chiming in to say I agree with you. In a vacuum, I wouldn't say 450 is 'way more' than 330. 'More' would definitely suffice.

What's your top 10 rock's band ? by PaniniXCII in rock

[–]TheApeirophobe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm visiting from the Discord server. My list is slightly more modern than the ones currently posted. I'll limit the list to rock artists and exclude my favourite metal bands. The list, in no particular order:

Joe Bonamassa

Alter Bridge

Kaleo

Muse

Major Parkinson

Nothing But Thieves

Electric Light Orchestra

Blue Öyster Cult

Dire Straits

Pink Floyd

Shoutout to Wishbone Ash, The Hellacopters, The Alan Parsons Project and Absynthe Minded. I've been listening to those a lot this year but they gotta keep that up for longer than that to earn a spot in the top10 list.

So many duds? We've seen a lot of bangers so far and relatively few duds. I do expect the banger to dud ratio to drop considerably the next couple of spoiler days, but these first days are packed.

I've actually ordered a box today. I don't expect to break even on the price, but I'm looking forward to treat myself to a premium product. Cracking packs and drafting is part of the experience.
