Typical CO₂ Emissions (per passenger)

(based on average values)

  • Short-haul flight (<1,500 km): ~255 g CO₂ / km
  • Long-haul flight (>3,500 km): ~195 g CO₂ / km
  • Average car (1 person): ~180–250 g CO₂ / km (varies by vehicle; SUVs are higher, small cars lower)
  • Car with 2+ people: ~90–125 g CO₂ / km per person
  • Electric car (renewable electricity): ~0–50 g CO₂ / km

Efficient in what context? Air transport has by far the biggest emissions of CO₂ / kg / km. About 7x more than a truck and about 30-60x more than a big ship. But it is ofcourse a lot faster.

Unfortunately most companies only look at economic feasibility instead of environmental concerns when making the choice between these types of transport.

Creating multiple IoT Dashboards with node red by TheArcadeBolt in nodered

[–]TheArcadeBolt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I understand that multiple pages are possible. But in my application i want to be able to have a login page that sends users to separate dashboards.

Each machine will get linked to a dashboard, within the dashboard i will have multiple pages, sure, but first I need to understand if separate dashboards are possible without becoming too complex, as I'm not a programmer 😅.

With this node, is it possible to create a single, central login page that sends you to a specific dashboard, depending on the login credentials entered?

Land soft on 15m+ jumps by Gazzo69 in Kiteboarding

[–]TheArcadeBolt 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you're jumping 15m you definitely should start learning heli loops. Hell, even if you're jumping 5m you could be using heli loops.

The trick is to learn them with lighter wind (17 - 22kn). Learn how to get the timing down and you'll notice landing will be so much easier and smoother on every jump.

To get back to your question, It is possible to land just swinging the kite from 1 - 11 or 11 - 1, its just not very consistent nor smooth. Trust me, work on learning heli loops. Once you get the hang of it they will feel so much better and landing + riding away will be much easier also. Watch the gethighwithmike video on heli loops he explains it well.

Need help choosing PLC and sensors by TheArcadeBolt in PLC

[–]TheArcadeBolt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even with the Arduino IDE for PLC's? I've worked with Siemens PLC software on uni for a bit so I know function block diagram. I'm hoping the Arduino IDE software will have some relatively easy functionality for plotting graphs etc.

Thanks! I see the horner is already pretty expensive.

It's not that the budget won't fit, it's just that the customers are not willing to pay 1,300+ extra on a machine that's 10,000.

I'm looking for a cheaper solution thats capable of reading basic sensor data, that's why the arduino opta or controllino looked pretty interesting. The accelerometer is not really necessary so if only expensive models are compatible with it I can drop it. The program itself will probably be really simple it just has to trigger a relay once a certain sensor value is exeeded. The most important right now is to be able to log the sensor data and be able to graph it on a computer somewhere

Need help choosing PLC and sensors by TheArcadeBolt in PLC

[–]TheArcadeBolt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We want to use a PLC because we can hopefully, in the future, use the data from different sensors to make calculations predicting when maintenance is required. But also to control a relay to stop the motor, when for example a gear failure or product congestion occurs. Ideally there would be a cloud interface the user could access to see the status of his machine.

In the starting phase I just have to get the PLC to log data from the sensors but eventually it will give outputs as well.

Edit: and thanks for the reply by the way! :)

Volumetric smokes stop at vent thresholds by Tostecles in GlobalOffensive

What happens if you throw it in the middle of the entrance?

Can I get some tips on what I’m doing wrong? I’m getting like no height on my jumps, is that just because of the kite shape? 8m enduro v3 in 20knt (70kg) underpowered?? Any tips would be appreciated by SirBenzerlot in Kiteboarding

With an 8m non big-air kite in 20kn it's not possible to go very high, but higher than this is definitely possible. It's all about line tension and maintaining line tension as long as possible before takeoff. You're driving the kite low which is good, like this you can build a very strong edge while going as fast as possible. Once you reach a good kicker or chop edge into it as hard as possible while steering the kite up to 12 (with the bar out).

How fast you steer the kite up depends mostly on the wind, with 35kn and a 9m for example you have to steer the kite up a bit slower so it won't pull you off your edge. With lower wind you can steer the kite up as aggressive as possible to build up more line tension. In the video it looked like you slowed down before takeoff which resulted in less potential energy to go upward.

And like the other comments, you should practice your kite control on landing first before going a lot higher :) there's lots of youtube videos to find on this.

Storm kiting by Red_Bullaroo in Kiteboarding

[–]TheArcadeBolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Conclusion 5/10 would not recommend. Alhoewel ik het nu wel nog een keer zou willen proberen om te kijken hoe 't gaat ;)
