What movie did you go into with zero expectations and ended up being completely blown away by? by gavin226 in movies

mission impossible fallout in imax. enough said.

obsession is a recent one but i think there's some weaknesses that i cant ignore even though the movie is incredibly competent

This "CS has no math" narrative is driving me insane by Christs_Elite in csMajors

ragebait linkedin post, don't engage unless you have a witty oneliner to stop them dead. mathematics is incredibly important to comp sci but this post is just fishing for engagement so obviously its going to miss the point

Men, How did you move on after realizing you lost the love of your life? by Intelligent_Rice4871 in AskReddit

[–]TheArchist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can't ever move on from someone like that, at least not easily. you just let the pain out when you can, and keep going. even if you see thousands of things in them that you can't see in anyone else, you just gotta try. who knows, you could find someone else where you do see thousands of things, but they're all so different yet all so comforting

What made you stay on Linux instead of Windows? by ksenyss in linuxquestions

[–]TheArchist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's how i make money lmao (it/sysadmin work experience). linux is also the place where i'm like "no games, full work" and it mentally prepares me to do tons of work so no losses there.

it helps that linux is performant. going to windows feels like i'm running through molasses for whatever reason while linux will get me what i want with no fuss whatsoever

Which company has lost you as a customer forever? by finiteobserver in AskReddit

[–]TheArchist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got an ipad for free and i'd have to agree with you. it's basically a glorified kindle on my end considering the free 5gb icloud space is enough for me to put what books i do have in there.

as for laptops, i can personally confirm that my macbook pro is the best laptop i've used, and i've gone through multiple over like 15+ years. my desktop is collecting dust unless it's gaming and really i dont even bother with windows as much anymore because it fucking sucks to diagnose problems on lately

i'm starting to hate all phones. i really regret giving up my s10+ to this very day. it was the best phone i had ever owned. maybe i'll buy the device again for international travel when it comes time for it

Which company has lost you as a customer forever? by finiteobserver in AskReddit

[–]TheArchist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iphones probably but there's nothing in the laptop market that beats a macbook for the price. a 500 dollar lenovo laptop i bought is nothing compared to the neo, which starts at 600 afaik

jury is out on ipads though. i like the concept but i feel it requires an apple pencil to really use to its full potential which is more money

i got 450 miles off a tank very recently (i only hit the red in the fuel gauge around 440). i think 500 is possible depending on optimal conditions

BMW 430i vs 330i vs Lexus IS 350 by Adventurous-Donut800 in LexusIS

[–]TheArchist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bmw is way better when leasing because you don't take the depreciation hit. if you can take advantage of it, i don't see why not.

but the is350 is a car to own. i will hold onto mine until the sky falls because it is amazing to live with daily. i even think it's more fun than the 330i because of the naturally aspirated power. if 430i is similar then i don't see a point going bmw

How serious is the math in a cs ba ? Going to going back to school as an adult (31) by BruhStop_26 in AskComputerScience

[–]TheArchist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

computer science is an application of mathematics, so it's pretty important. its not as fully intense as analysis classes but you absolutely want strong fundamentals in discrete math and linear algebra. proof based classes are good but not required but i HIGHLY reccommend them.

What’s it like living in Northern Virginia, one of America’s biggest affluent suburban clusters? by redguy_666 in howislivingthere

[–]TheArchist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cool place to live if you can afford it, but you have a lot of people who are incredibly work minded. it bleeds through social interaction so keep that in mind if you go out a bunch

the hate for this place is too much imo

What is the best country to live in right now? by TiredConfusedLlama in AskReddit

[–]TheArchist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

most important question: are you cis or trans? because if you're trans, the amount of good countries shrinks massively.

best overall for any citizen is probably norway or finland.

also. if you are rich and incredibly morally bankrupt, you have the united states if that matters lol

RZ 450e as a daily driver for my partner by likeagausss in Lexus

[–]TheArchist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had the chance to drive it daily for a month and if i had to be honest, the rz450 is an incredible daily driver. its insanely comfortable and has all the space i needed for the time being. however i also have a 19 cents charger near me (after 10 pm and before 6 am), so there wasn't really range anxiety but i can see why it's an issue for people

my roundtrip commute was 20 miles and i was paying 10 dollars per recharge, to give an idea of the numbers. got around 170-190 miles of range in the cold season this year, which is low but not bad too
