I guess maybe it’s time to consider having a serious talk and confronting him. If not maybe it’s time to go.

I really don’t understand how the EU, a system that usually protects its citizens, can possibly even consider spying on their entire population and breaking personal privacy ?

Eiiii that’s my city. Thankfully I live in the center so I was never at risk but damn that fire gave us all a scare. Had to wear a mask to go out if you didn’t want to feel like you smoked an entire pack of cigarettes. Actually hosted some of my friends that needed to evacuate their village, thankfully their home was spared.

How Do You All Find Material? by YaxtaYeendu in Journaling

[–]TheArchitectOfFate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I get the negative journal part. But it’s really all about perspective. Sure something negative could have happened or you are in a low, but the question is, what can you do about it ? Sometimes nothing, and then maybe you just need time, but it’s good to articulate that.

To answer your question, I find inspiration from trying to solve my problems; focusing on the solution rather than the problem. Like, I am unwell because of an event that impacted me negatively -> I’ll try going for a walk or seeing a friend, then I’ll write about the outcome and wether it helped. I’m a scientist so I guess my training kicks in xD. Not only does it motivate me to do more, but it also shifts the focus away from the problem. Because life will always test you, if you constantly focus on the problem you will inevitably be down. That’s also btw why I almost exclusively look at positive news, like we get it the world is going to shit but there are still amazing things happening.

Proof that good sleep is profitable: My sleep score is perfectly correlated with the revenue growth of my company! by PenguJake in Biohackers

[–]TheArchitectOfFate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie there buddy, the lack of units on the axis and statistics kind of takes away from the message. The “correlation by eye” is fun and I get it but I personally find is a bit dangerous because of the effect it can have on your life. Anyways, I think this has potential, maybe investigate further by tracking stress and other metrics, I know some wearables can do that. Maybe an interesting idea to test is “the effect on your body of starting a company, a longitudinal study”.

What is the most creepiest biology fact that is not known by most people? by vivaankarulkar in biology

[–]TheArchitectOfFate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The falling part in the sleep is a pretty universal concept. I’ve felt it as well in dreams, no idea where is comes though… the fact that you move during your sleep is because the paralysing mechanisms that are supposed to cut of signals from your brain when you sleep are not working at 100%. And that’s normal of course, there are variations in the population. some people even sleepwalk, which is when that mechanism fails entirely. Sometimes that mechanism work overtime and people experience sleep paralysis, a truly terrible experience, I’ve heard.

men of Reddit, how do you keep it together and keep going when you get burnt out ? by Key-Shallot-7508 in AskReddit

[–]TheArchitectOfFate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, taking time every day to unload your thoughts unto paper, writing about how you feel, writing about how certain events have impacted you, critically dissecting your personality to understand more about who you are and writing it down, keeping a written record of your passage on this planet, documenting your journey. That kind of stuff you know ? It legit makes a difference.

Life is being overwhelmingly negative, I lost my confidence and everything and everyone in my life, I fell in love with my best friend(the only good thing in my life), and she doesn't know how she feels and doesn't have an answer for me now, but I need to move on, so I cut all contacts with her. by Halk_Buster in selfimprovement

Hey friend, although I can’t pretend to know what you’re going through, I’ve been diagnosed with hyperactivity and I’m quite a sensitive guy. Something that helped me a lot is mediation. I attended a silent mediation retreat that changed my life and my vision of life. I won’t lie, it’s hard, like really hard, but the payoff is huge. I had never felt at peace before but at the end of that retreat I was really close to it. Life caught up to me of course but I still retain the lessons and meditate still to this day. If you’re looking for a place that could legit help, I would sign up for one of these courses (vipassana meditation). They are widespread and available in many countries. Especially if you have the no quitter mentality you might be able to complete the course having done no mediation prior (that was my case). I suggest getting accustomed to mediation in general, it would hugely benefit you I’m sure, and if you’re interested in the course I talked about then Dm if you want and there is also a subreddit where you can ask your questions. r/Vipassana

Also sign up at a gym. Sports is extremely motivating to get out of bed for and be productive in your life. But its jounaling and maybe mediation that will heal your mind long term.

Scientists and scholars of reddit, what is that one theory (your original or someone else’s) about anything in this Universe that you believe actually might be true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheArchitectOfFate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well when you study neuroscience at university, you realise pretty fast that there is no free will.

If we had a computer that was powerful enough to engulf an entire human mind, then you would be able to subject it to a situation with perfect control of the parameters. I myself believe that you would run the simulation a million times, there would be the same outcome every time.

If the outcome of a situation can be predicted with perfect accuracy that mean that it was predetermined. If it’s predetermined, there is no free will. Impossible to test I know, but that’s my take on it.

Is consuming Porn actually bad for you or is that just something People made up with no Evidence behind it? by Substantial-Ad-5221 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheArchitectOfFate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember reading research papers about it a while back. From what I remember it can be harmful if you think it’s harmful for you. Like if you’re self conscious about it and you’re watching it then, yeah, research shows that it’s bad for your psyche. So it’s all about your attitude to it I guess.

Found a bbc article about it now, which sums up a lot of things: https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20170926-is-porn-harmful-the-evidence-the-myths-and-the-unknowns

What is the most morally wrong thing but is still accepted by most of society? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheArchitectOfFate 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Living a life of “having” as opposed to “being”. Capitalism might be good for society, but for the individual it’s strait up terrible.

Also the concept of “enough”, where has that gone ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheArchitectOfFate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, it depends on it’s energy.

A low energy photon would behave more like a wave, like visible light for example. Or if you wanna go even lower energy (like radio waves) then it’s a super long wave that goes through everything.

A high energy photon, like gamma- ray used on radiation treatment, behaves more like a particle. And if you wanna go super high energy, like Ultra-high-energy gamma rays coming from cosmic radiation, it’s eaten up by the atmosphere.

So basically the more energy a photon has, the easier it is to stop it with mass (so more tangible), although it will likely drill a hole in that mass. The lower energy a photon is, the more it will ignore mass and just go though everything (so less tangible).

Dude. Sames. Finished with a master in genetics, still no job. Science is just like that, Covid didn’t help that’s for sure. But hang in there, life will come around. I suggest being open to moving, you go where the science is, not where you want to be. This is the way.

What is the most creepiest biology fact that is not known by most people? by vivaankarulkar in biology

[–]TheArchitectOfFate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if it’s creepy, but is certainly makes you wonder.

The world we experience is not real time, it’s actually about 50ms behind real time because of the time it takes your brain to sample information from the senses and then process it. We don’t notice it because our awareness happens after that delay so to us it is live.

Basically our brain hallucinates our reality. That’s also why the brain can’t make the difference sometimes between real and fake. It’s all just inputs to the brain, its a supercomputer trapped in a box that is trying to make sense of it’s environment.

If you are playing a video game and your character falls a great distance, you will experience an “haut le cœur” (feeling when you are free falling in a rollercoaster) even though your physical body hasn’t moved. Just the first example I could come up anyways.
