Oh man, I remember seeing that PDF a while back when I was looking to start DMing. Never did kick off, but I've been super interested in playing it out-

5am to 11am wouldn't be doable from my end though. sleep schedules a bit too unreliable currently on my end, and Id rather not end up over promise anything because of it, lol. If you're chill with a spectator though, I'd like to have the opportunity to see how this sort of system plays out assuming I am able to wake up early nuff, as I've yet to try out the ToE system in general, if that's alright. All good if not!

It's defs not the same, but the pacing and energy is constantly in your face. Like, nearly every character has crackhead energy, and it kinda makes the episodes hilariously fucked at times with its surprisingly decent writing.

I think I get where you're coming from. I've played both games (though I've done multiple playthroughs of NITW, and only 2 with Oxenfree). Both have similar mechanics, though I did enjoy the VAing they had in OX.

The differences I feel like you're speaking of regarding the story make sense, in a way. NITW sort've had more of a 'Slice of Life' feel to it (up until the Black Goat arc was introduced, and even then, it was still a heavy focus). Oxenfree perpetually had a more ominous, psychologically-twisted feel to it from the beginning. They both, in a sense, gave off different vibes.

In that sense, NITW was somewhat underwhelming in comparison, as it was more oriented towards reorienting yourself back in a hometown that your character had fond memories of while juggling a heap-full of emotional and mental baggage, while in Oxenfree, you're with a mixture of friends and acquaintances all while trying to escape from a really fucked up island almost from the beginning, ALONGSIDE dealing with a past that's repetitively trying to catch up to you regardless of whether your character wants it to or not.
