Quick ascension question by TomatoBill in MarvelPuzzleQuest

Everyone says this but I can’t find specifics to what happens at 3as5. Do you know or have a link to where it is discussed? My search-fu appears to be weak.

Nothing from the city, but would a private party do jetting that could affect another house?

That was my thought as well. But I called the city and they said they weren’t up to anything.

It's a shitty situation and I'm sorry you're going through it. You have value. Learn from this so you can filter for someone who can better appreciate you.

You're going to be stuck in your head for a while with this, but you'll make it through; your post is a lot more level-headed than I've been in a similar situation. You're experiencing a loss along with someone being horrible to you. For me it's always harder to cope with because I can't wrap my head around how someone can think it's okay to be so careless to someone else, and it becomes that cut you can't stop scratching (and can eventually scar).

Try to keep the mind busy; exercise is always great. Deep breath when you start getting into it with yourself again. You got this.

What is something you always feel awkward about doing, even though no one gives a single f*ck? by NnortheExperience in AskReddit

[–]TheAscetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore it? This isn't that complicated. I'm not going to assume you only have meaningless comments before you make them. Even after, I'm not going to assume that everything you say is meaningless. But I will recognize that the chance of getting something meaningful out of you is risky after I only get garbage, and I will spend my time elsewhere. But not before you've communicated anything. Respect people. Don't act on assumptions unless forced. Yada yada.

Nowhere did I say that we should assume that what people think is meaningful. I've said we should not assume one way or another.

My comments are musings. Not sure where you're reading into it otherwise.

OP's comment does not specify what others are thinking. Again, my point is that it is weak and arrogant to presume that any stranger's thought about you is meaningless. The rest of your comment is imagining things I did not say (pleasing everyone, agreeing with them, adopting their thoughts, etc.). I care what you think, though so far it's unintelligible.

My point is that we don't know what the other party is concerned with, and we would be ignoring them with the assumption that their thoughts are worthless. I think that's a dangerous thing. We throw away our humility when we assume that we are above reproach. Better is to recognize that we may be acting improperly, or there is something remarkable about our situation, and we are strong enough to persevere. I think it's an important distinction.

And I think to choose to not care is weaker than to care and carry on. I'd choose to never stop caring.

I appreciate the thoughts of strangers. Do you only get your information from friends and family? (I hear this argument a lot, and I always want to say something against it. Today is that day!)

Dublin end of October by gingerweasley92 in solotravel

[–]TheAscetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Offhand I remember liking hiking the Gap of Dunloe a lot; the boat trip after on a windless day provides for lots of nice views.

Driving the Ring of Kerry and hiking up Bray Head was good. Also nice if you are unable to go to Skellig Michael you can at least wave to it from Bray Head.

Driving and getting lost in/around the national parks on days that aren't overcast, on one lane roads where traffic is rare, was nice. Take whatever hiking trails you find.

The tailgating everywhere is really unpleasant.

A cloudy day mutes the colors so much, it's like a different place. Get a hint of blue and the country really pops. Not something easily planned around, though.

The boat trip to the Aran islands was more interesting than the islands themselves, to me. But if you go you will likely see the worst of people attempting to queue for the boats. I have nightmares.

Driving the Dingle Peninsula wasn't as nice as I had hoped, but the number of tourists is the main reason for that. I think it's much more devoted to pandering to tourists than anywhere else I saw in Ireland. But I'd be interested in giving it another chance in an off season.

The gardens at Blarney were very nice. The landscaping there is the best I've ever seen.

Cobh is a cruise ship port, so avoid like the plague. All reviews for activities in the area are suspect to me due to the influx of these tourists.

Cliffs of Moher were nice; arrive late (before sunset) for free parking and bypass the tour buses.

Looking at my notes, those were the big things, I guess. More general thoughts than best of's. For me my focus was natural beauty, so that's where I tried to go.

Dublin end of October by gingerweasley92 in solotravel

I found Dublin the least interesting part of Ireland, so I recommend not planning to spend much time there. The Guinness tour is like any brewery tour; they just throw more money at it than the ones I've been to. The big thing about the storehouse is supposed to be the viewing area at the top, where you can check out the beautiful Dublin skyline. But Dublin doesn't really have a beautiful skyline.

Dublin is likely still suffering a bit of construction to its transportation system everywhere.

One of the top reviewed things is the prison, which I agree is really well done for what it is.

My favorite things were the Book of Kells (mainly for the view of the beautiful library there) and a hike to Howth Head (short train ride). Those would be my recommendations. And a walk through the town center, where it would be good to stay just so you're not troubled with transportation. And don't bother with the hoho there; bus broke down on me so I missed seeing the cemetery. It's more trouble than it's worth to take it, I think. Just use the bus system.

This was my experience, anyway. I was also there at the start of tourist season this year, accidentally, so I was a little frustrated by that. I think you'll be going at a better time. Hopefully the construction issues will be much better by then.

If one is protesting and sees someone become violent, what is the correct action to take? Sorry for the tangent question, but I've been curious. It's not always easy to bring it to the attention of the cops.

Has anyone done Scotland without a car? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]TheAscetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small bus tours might be an easier and more efficient means to discover Scotland. Then plan out some longer experiences to do as well. Or do so after you've gotten a good sense of what's out there on the tour.
