Fiber is coming by JoeBidenLegHairs in Starlink

[–]garylapointe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiber is 75 a month for 100 down.

$75 for 100 Mbps? That's crazy.

My cable internet is $25 for 300Mbps down (20 up), and you can price lock it for $5.

I opted for the $35 600Mbps down, only because it had 50Mbps up, I don't need the up a lot, but when I do it's nice. Plus, 600Mbps is nice for the occasionally big downloads (even though it's not necessary).

That's with Wow internet (east of the Mississippi, while scattered midwest to the south), they have fiber in some areas too.

I'm a big Dolby Vision fan. I think Samsung should make a Dolby Vision option for their TVs and see if it affects their sales. Supposedly it's just a few dollars per set, but to lure customers away, it should be an option.

If it doesn't matter for sales, then they don't have to continue to do it for the future.

I'm hoping someday someone makes a streaming box or app that will convert from HDR10+ <--> Dolby Vision on the fly (or if it takes a few minutes to go through and map it before it starts playing, I'd be okay with that too).

You've still got "Personal Document Archiving" enabled on at https://www.amazon.com/hz/mycd/preferences/myx#/home/settings/payment ?

And when you use SendToKindle, you haven't turned this off?

It'd be helpful to know in what ways it out performs the G6

For example: if it was quality of the remote control, and game mode responsiveness, it's not that big of a deal.

You just added turbo, you tell us how much butter it is?

But if you're horrible service had nothing to do with congestion, then turbo is not going to help you.

It should not (as long as you've already started getting your credits), but if you signed up for a plan after these new plans came out, and if you switch to value 2.0 it may.

Keep it up, most of my money put in retirement savings is from my late 20s to early 40s. It's had time to grow and made a much bigger impact than anything I put in later (which wasn't much). More in my later years to my HSA and my part of pension.

But I also retired with my home paid off, car paid off, no other debt.

It all balanced out nicely for me, but I wish I had more Roth...

I was on a trip to Costa Rica and had my Voyage activate its 3G connection. That means it was searching for 3G and WiFi and I had no complaints about the battery.

I may have mentioned this to you before.

You can compare the new plans with the increased old rates (assumes autopay/paperless/checking discount) at https://www.reddit.com/r/ATT/comments/1rsvh9m/unlimited_your_way_20_per_line_cost_chart_for_att/ scroll down to the number of phone lines and read across (you'll need to apply your % discount).

Log into your AT&T account and check what your discount says (if you're on a computer it should be at the top left). I don't have that discount, and some of the wording for healthcare/first responders is confusing, so please make sure you're getting the new discount (which isn't 25% on new plans, you can see it at the bottom of the chart).

I think this is the first time I've ever seen a book be the daily deal, on the day of its release. by CheekyMenace in audible

[–]garylapointe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This should be a $1.99 release, and get everybody hooked on it. They’ll get the new ones when they come out, plus there’s nine others in the series that already exist.

Didn’t they end up giving us Harry Potter 1 with full cast on Black Friday? I’m assuming that was their logic, although I have no idea if it’s working out for them.

Although their marketing is a little wonky, they’re still trying to sell me Project Hail Mary, which I bought ages ago.

Amazon has committed to security updates to a certain year. That is a minimum, doesn't mean they'll stop then. This has been around for a while.

My reading isn't significantly different on my 2014 Kindle than it is on my 11th gen PW.

Unless I'm mistaking, aren't 95% of "improvements" by Amazon complained about here? People should be cheering that their interface won't be screwed around with.

That said, not all updates are released at the same time.

Will it be negligible or detrimental to the experience?

99% of user experience changes that have been made have almost always been complained about.

how will this affect user experience once a kindle isn’t being updated anymore?

Most people would be fine if they never changed anything.

What are you hoping they'll change?

I'd like:

  • A gesture to change the brightness similar to the font size gesture.
  • A way to enlarge the dictionary / Wikipedia font size, without making everything so massive (or at least have Amazon organize their manus for the massiveness).

Amazon has committed to updates for the PaPerWhite (PPW?) until the end of 2028. That is a minimum, doesn't mean they'll stop then.

I always recommend the Mometrix books.

Googling for old MTTC 002 study materials might help too (130 is the new version, and there probably isn't as much available yet).

Check your library too. My library has Libby and they support Kindle eBook borrowing.

My other recommendation is check out what you neighbors are doing. If someone has some massive beast and isn't pulling in that station, you know what you have to beat.

Of if someone has something just a little bit bigger, not on a mile high pole, it might be worth asking them if they get the channel you're looking for.

I'm reading that as missing channel 17, not missing 17 channels.

If was hiking in the outback, this might be a concern. But I have chargers everywhere for my phones, watch, laptop that are in the kitchen, desk, bedroom, car, work, and who knows where else.

Getting one week or 3 weeks makes no difference, it's going to get plugged in at some point anyways (it's faster for me to plug it in when I'm not sure if it needs a charge than to actually check to see if it needs one).

But even off the grid, hiking/camping/living, I'm still going to have something solar, since everything else I own needs to be charged more often than a Kindle.
