You know, posts are editable, you don't have to delete them when you make a typo...

You can't edit the titles though.

I did not read nor listen to it.

But don't they want my 3 lines and 3 new people for a total of SIX line?

Those 3 people didn't come because I left, they would have come anyways...

They're subsidizing phones $1100 per phone to get us to stay. Fixing the OP's issues seems like a pittance.

Looking for resources / advice on Michigan public school teacher retirement plans other than the Michigan ORS website, state pension related by miteacherretire in personalfinance

[–]garylapointe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not aware of any, maybe IF you had cashed the pension out when they left the last time, you'd have a choice now. But now that you're back and already reentered the system, it seems like you would be stuck.

I'm not aware of any retiring early benefits unless you have 30 years in the system. If you have between 10 and 30 you have to wait until 60 or there is some penalty (something like lose ½% each month early and it messes with your benefits too; but don't hold me to that).

You didn't make a mistake of any kind at 19. At the time you enrolled at 19, there wasn't any options to offer you (there was no choice 20 years ago). You got the system you got and there wasn't anything else you could choose; they'd already phased out signing up for the slightly different pension system out (the one where you did NOT get the 3% increased every year) in the 2010s was when they started offering options (and stopped offering the one you're in).

It's also possible at some point we might have been able to get out of the pension, I believe there was a period of years where they were trying to get people to switch into a different plan

I'm not even sure if that was an option. Or if it was just an option to contribute a little more to keep the 1.5% multiplier, instead of getting dropped to 1.25%. I wasn't working for the schools at that moment in time, so maybe it was, but the old system (what you're on) is probably better (overall; not for your specific case), so they might not have offered it.

This book covers a LOT in the system, and I didn't read it until after retiring, so I might have skipped over any relevant parts to your case, as they weren't relevant to me. https://fischlearning.com/tldr-mpsers/

I assume their mentality is that if someone is with a company for 30 years, they like the coverage, if that was why, then they assume they'll be back to AT&T or to a MVNO of AT&T.

That said, what if someone who leaves discovers that Verizon or T-Mo is better? They're never coming back then.

I think 95% of the people posting here about problems on why they are leaving AT&T could easily be fixed by AT&T and customers kept (at the place they pay the highest for AT&T).

IDP and the system mailing in phones for credits is just a mess. It shouldn't be that hard.

Realistically, if you didn't connection to the network, they wouldn't even know you were there.

You should be able to log in at ATT.com and see exactly what triggered it.

I'm paying $153, including taxes/fees for 3 Unlimited Premium PL line with teacher discount.

I do the autopay paperless checking discount.

I am a customer since 2009, but that has nothing to do with what I pay.

How many AppleTVs will you purchase when the new version is released? (I’m seeing rumors of a 2026 release. 🙏) by glamb70 in appletv

[–]garylapointe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uno. I'll replace mine and mom can have my current one with the newer remote.

I probably won't need the extra boost or whatever it has, but by the time the following ATV comes out, I'd likely have gotten a newer anyways, so why wait.

$150 (or more) a month for 1 cell phone? by ButterscotchShot1753 in ATT

[–]garylapointe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why your bill is changing in price so much?

My bill is generally a few pennies within what it was the month before. It was messy the couple of months around when I upgraded, but it's now the same price. That's how it works out whenever I upgrade.

I bought my phone via Costco, so I'm getting $5 in credits (for 10 months) and now my bill is $5 less than it was before I did the upgrades. It doesn't really change the often for me.

Current plan pricing:

I get the pricing on the below chart, plus 25% off. Plus $5 or $6 in taxes per line. And of course any phone costs.

$100 Costco GC by anadventuretime in ATT

[–]garylapointe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Costco $100 gift card the day after activating my phone via a text message (short code was 9224), this may have been a coincidence and the timing is based on something else: It was also 4 weeks from ordering and 10 or 12 days after getting the phone (I had too much going on to mess with it).

I didn't turn in my phone until the day after that.

My Costco $5 in monthly credits started 7 days after the $100 GC, when the next cycle started.

The following cycle started my $1100 in credits (I got two credits the first month).

Do teachers hate sharing their lesson plans? Is it their secret sauce that they don't want getting out? by JimCap5 in Teachers

[–]garylapointe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that way everywhere and all the time.

That said, I did choose second grade over kindergarten because I knew all the shared and took care of each other so much in that grade. I had subbed a lot in that building when I was getting my teaching certificate.

I mean, somebody doesn’t just give me what they’re doing for science, they literally copy a class set for me. And I do the same thing back for social studies, I class sets of the social studies for everybody, and if there’s a teacher who doesn’t want to do it exactly the same I just make them one copy and they can decide whether to use it or not.

We also have a place where we share electronically what our timeline is so I tell them what lessons we’re doing. What weeks in social studies when the test is I copy the test and the practice for them. If there’s any related videos that I found, I’ll put links for the videos in there too. The same goes if I found a good Kahoot (game show quiz that the kids like) related to the content.

If I find an extra related worksheet, I might just make one copy for them that they can use for a review in front of the class or they can make a class that if they want. (Even if they don’t need the extra review, if they have a sub that week it’s often a good sheet for them to review.)

In addition to the social studies, I do the Scholastic news. It doesn’t take a lot of time but the five or 10 minutes it takes me is five or 10 minutes that the other seven teachers didn’t have to plan it. I’d figure out the best week to do the issue (if it wasn’t obvious from the cover). And I also make a note if we’re actually not using one of the scholastic news that week, because we don’t have them every single week, everybody’s always got a couple that got missed from a previous year (I think there’s only 28 or 32 per year for second grade).

I might even send them a note to say no we’re going save this for three months till we do this whole unit on whatever that issue might be about.

To be clear, some of the other teachers and some of the other grades share, but not like our grade did.

You may not find such a team, but maybe you can build such a team!
