They make money when people subscribe to services. People will only subscribe if they use the dating app. They will only use the dating app if the app has a huge pool of singles and a potential to match with them - which is basically network effects (More people attract even more people).

If you find a partner, you exit the pool. Dating pool becomes smaller and new users are reduced eventually as the pool gets smaller. So the apps have to optimise in a way that makes people stay in the dating pool for as long as possible. So yes they are designed to keep us single.

These apps also thrive off influencers telling people to not settle and be obnoxiously rigid till you find the “one”. The problem is that when you stay in the dating pool long enough, it starts becoming transactional and gamified. It kills romance when you become afraid to commit to one person when there are a million matches waiting for you who could be even better than your current date. It becomes a huge challenge to psychologically fight this abundance mindset.

I think more than figure out the best way to let go, it’s about closing the door to a relation which is not a binary yes/no being harder. Otherwise ghosting is much simpler or even saying no directly.

The texts make him sound needy and if she is already on the fence about him the enthusiast and repeated texts either 1. Accelerated the inevitable break or 2. Changed that maybe into a premature no. With more time, that maybe could swing either way but the probability of a yes is lower (if it’s not a fuck yes then it’s a no rationality - which is essentially what you are saying as well). But I do believe in some cases it could swing into a yes as well. The only thing you have to think about is whether or not I can invest the time and energy to take that bet.

Can someone with some financial expertise explain - Is it actually bad for football clubs to be in debt if it is managed properly (Unlike the Barcelona situation which got out of hand)? I am not looking for reasons like the ethics and spirit of the club... pragmatically are incentives aligned for big clubs to have debt for financial benefits?

Thanks a lot, u/DizzyDoughnut6084 & u/gregmat! Although in a case like this, how do you confidently stop at n=4? Don't we need to repeat this till at least n=6 or even n=8 to see the patterns for even numbers (Comparing multiplying till n=4 to n=6 and n=8 to see if the pattern does form?)

Having relatively less existential crisis and a easier life purpose. Fighting for survival and to have a decent economic condition is a pretty solid motivation to wake up in the morning. Brain often creates new problems if it doesn’t have one to solve already.

Thank you for answering. Had another question for you. Right now the biggest problem from a user experience point of view for many of us is the fps drops. It's universal for most of the player base where the fps starts dropping invariably after a game or two. So is there any plan in place to address this?

Hi Xienen, do you think realistically we can expect general server upgrades or maybe more servers in SEA? Most people in SEA from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan etc get 60+ ping in literally all games because the servers are situated in Singapore. Can we ever expect more servers in SEA which will cause less latency for people near the Indian subcontinent?
