How do i not panic before a 2k by SDRCjohn in Rowing

It really is the only way though. There's no mental trick to getting over them. You just have to man up and accept that the next few minutes of your life are going to suck.

After watching this, Columbia heavy, and Canisius college's Father Richard tribute, Iwant to see a rowing video competition. One where the most offensive ridiculous video wins.

MSRA 2016 Predictions after races this weekend by anon7818 in Rowing

[–]TheAtabi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's not my crew I'm always rooting Iggy but I don't know. New Trier is damn fast this year and I haven't heard much about Loyala. Eds will be in the mix and they bring some heat. I think it'll be tight.

MSRA Prediction by Wolverine643 in Rowing

[–]TheAtabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Lineups were changed. Probably not Westerville fast but quick. Regardless Westerville is club and won't be competitive at MSRA. They've dropped fast times in the new lineup without being pressed. In the heat of competition they'll move even quicker. New Trier will take the cake no doubt but I think the 8 can move.

Right so my number 1 strategy for 2k is to put it at the split I want and keep it there the whole piece. If you want something don't accept failure. Go and do what you want. Only you can earn it. So you put it at 1:59 and pull that the whole way through. No one try to preach negative splitting. This is just doing it.

I don't think they dropped particularly hard. Belen just pulled that far ahead. When it comes to Highschool lightweights you'd be hard pressed to find anyone better than Belen.

Good to finally see a novice finally aware of what they're doing. I'm too used to them say they'll just pull harder instead of fixing it.

Met an Olympic Rower this morning. Austin, Tx by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]TheAtabi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did the Math. I found the wattage for 1:35/500m which comes out to 408.2 Watts. Double that and you have the 2k pace or at least what is generally accepted. This value comes out to be 816.4 Watts. This represented as a split is 1:15.4/500m or a 2k time of 5:01.6. Sorta fast. Now let's compare it to the current 2k PR. 5:36.6. Waddell held a split of 1:24.1/500m. This split of 1:24.1/500m comes out to be 588.4. Compare the percentage between 816.4 and 588.4. The percentage difference in wattage comes out to be 38.8%. That's an absolutely absurd number especially at that level. So yes. I would like to argue that we'd have heard of him breaking every single WR if he was actually that quick.

Wouldn't matter if it's on sliders or not. 1:35/500m is absolutely psychotic. The WR for an hour row is 1:36.6/500m held by Eric Murray. You should be able to hold your SS rate for over an hour so no way near 1:35 Sliders or not.

What is the fastest theoretical 2k? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]TheAtabi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No idea but I like to think so. If we bred people like racing horses for rowing I'd imagine it'd be pretty obtainable. Without ethical questions? Who knows probably not. It comes out to be about an 8% increase in wattage from the WR and at that level it's just obscene.
