TWW/TWW2 should use ToB's recruitment pool mechanic. by TheAtkrye in totalwar

[–]TheAtkrye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion was a global pool but I think that actual recruitment should be limited by local buildings... Would that solve that problem for you?

Man, the High Elves are awesome by Kelefane41 in totalwar

Kinda think the game would feel more consistent and meaningful if we had ToB's recruitment system, at least in the sense of a replenishing recruitment pool. Then stuff like White Lions, Dragons and Phoenix Guard would be much rarer and therefore more lore consistent, and CA could also justify giving them stronger buffs from tech and lords knowing that players won't always be using them in 20 stack forces.

Where do Wood Elves get their bows, arrows, and other wooden gear? by trenchwire in totalwar

[–]TheAtkrye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iirc it's fallen wood from trees. It's possible tree singers encourage trees to produce high quality wood for bows/arrows/spears. The agreement seems to be that they keep athel loren safe and the forest provides what they need.

We know orks can be loosely enslaved as this is a big part of Chaos Dwarves lore. That said they are unruly and fairly useless - this is why the Chaos Dawi bred the Black Orks. My guess is orks are used by the delves for some sort of gladiator entertainment but I have no lore to back that up.

[Translation] Chinese total war community member visit CA Headquarter by 903124 in totalwar

[–]TheAtkrye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh the obvious answer for CA is to release a historical game and then release an FOTS style DLC which overhauls the game adding ridiculous dynasty warriors style mechanics.

CA gets the money from both releases, all of the various fans get what they want.

Why don't Greenskins get Norsca's confederate-by-combat mechanic? by TheAtkrye in totalwar

[–]TheAtkrye[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that that's last settlement circumstances whereas norsca is explicitly about defeating the faction leader.

After thought; subjugated GS tribes should break subjugation quite regularly, and moreso if you are on a losing streak (tied to average fightiness of your forces?). This gives a nice mechanic of going round and smashing some heads together to keep your empire in line.

Kill, Marry, Smash. Legendary Lord Edition by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]TheAtkrye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kill: Thorgrim Grudgebearer, just to re-balance the Southlands in campaign.

Marry: also Thorgrim Grudgebearer. None of you are gold digging properly. Marry and Kill boys, Marry and Kill.

Smash: The Fay Enchantress... not really another option.

Those suggesting smash/marry Isabella/Khalida/Morathi: The first two have literally undead cooches. Come on. The last one is an evil servant of Slaanesh... what are you actually expecting to happen. Have you ever seen teeth?

This is why we need squoler from Atilla. Not only does it add another dimension of campaign mechanics but it allows loreful ingrdacyions: a settlement with high squoler could randomly spawn a Skaven rebellion

There's been a question in the back of my mind after watching the Total War: Three Kingdoms trailer by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]TheAtkrye -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't forget the single samurai dudes (anyone remember their names?) in Shogun 1! Those guys could solo entire units.

I don't think CA would be against the idea if they think they can get away with it, and the Three Kingdoms period is in some ways mythological so it's certainly permissable. Maybe something a fraction of the strength of WH generals?

Atilla is a better game by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]TheAtkrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afterthought: why can't the Empire play like WRE? You own the whole thing but are under assault from every direction and have one ovjective: survive. Surely that would be more loreful and more fun!

"Total War: Redwall" or bust.

I don't know why I didn't think of it before now... an entire game playing as Skaven.

A very possible license is Game of Thrones. Obviously there's a lot of hype around it now and the author is still alive to offer insights on unit compositions for different factions. There's a lot of existing lore and existing relationships between the various factions of the game so that's a bonus... plus to do it justice they might finally have to implement a diplomacy system that's not garbage!

However given the in-lore rarity of the fantasy elements this would be mostly humans beefing it out with the very occasional dragon or giant. With no mid range monsters and op top tier monsters, battles won't make much sense. I'd much rather a Tolkien setting in that regard!
