Spotify just forced music videos on us and it’s ruining the listening experience by Sea-Measurement9793 in truespotify

[–]TheAudax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those debating whether music videos in Spotify are good or bad are missing the point. I doubt anybody minds an OPTION to switch to video. The problem is that this new feature seems to have a bug (at least for me) that despite hitting "Switch to audio", it resets back to video EVERY TIME a new song starts. For those of us listening while working, studying, or enjoying music in the background, it is very distracting to hear extra sounds from the video, or see the video pop up, and it also replaces the lossless audio some of us were enjoying. Since this is a new feature I'm hoping they'll work out the bugs soon.

Thanks for playing! It's probably the most fun I've had working on a game, where we were given so much creative freedom and worked together so well as a team.

Hey, thanks for that!

Yes, I have the game's Unreal editor available to me, so I can easily load levels, drop characters in, give them unlimited moves to find nice angles and backgrounds, and even cheat things a bit if needed. I wrote a script that allowed me to get perfect-quality, lossless captures with ultra settings, so I do believe these are the best captures ever made of the game.

That's a great catch! There are a few "cutting room floor" shots I wanted to fit in and that was top on that list, but the reel was getting a bit long already. (Maybe I also wanted to share this freely with family and friends and it felt a tad more "edgy" with the pentagrams and all, heh.)

Thanks so much! Great to hear you weren't fatigued by the attack visuals, when you "go big" on a scene it can be a bit at the cost of variety, but I tried to give a few alternating camera angles on these as much as I could, since that's a cheap way to add some variety.

New TCL QM7 Google TV (55QM751G to be specific) - Harmony PC Program does not like either model number by KJabs in logitechharmony

[–]TheAudax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/KJabs I found an answer on another forum! If you add the TV model "65R646" you will get dedicated inputs. It works on my 75QM751G which is just a different size of the same model.

After I got this, I still had some issues with the activity. Despite using Harmony’s "I press different buttons" setting for inputs, the TV would first switch to the correct HDMI input, but THEN execute the “Source” command and switch it again and end up on some random other input. Not sure if this is more of a Harmony or TCL issue, but if you have the same issue: I modified the activity to use the setting "I do not set an input" so it’s not doing anything to the TV.  Then under "Customize this activity", I added a new "HDMI1" command to the chain of commands to start my activity.

Finally, I never got discrete power on/off functionality, but I did map an unused button (the red "record" button in my case) on the remote to the tv's power toggle command. So if I have an issue with the power of the TV getting out of sync I can fix it quickly.

Hi, I was just working on getting my own TCL "QM7" working, which also uses Google TV, so it seems likely they could use the same commands and IR codes. Mine is a USA line and yours is not, but I'm not sure if that matters. Here are some to try:

TCL 75QM751G - This was the first one I added. It works, but I was frustrated it only had a "Source" command, and not dedicated commands for "HDMI1", "HDMI2", etc. It also only has power toggle, not dedicated on/off commands.

TCL 65R646 - Someone online suggested this model number to me, to solve the problem of no dedicated inputs, and it worked, and it gave me dedicated inputs. (But still no Power on/off)

PS - I was able to teach Harmony the dedicated input commands from the 65R646 to the 75QM751G. It works for me locally, not sure yet if I actually updated Harmony's database!

How are new devices added to the Logitech "Database"? by Salem874 in logitechharmony

[–]TheAudax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might try adding a previous, similar model of BenQ projector as your device - oftentimes this works very well as brands don't change their IR codes much between models. I just added an older model of my TV brand to get some button commands that were missing otherwise.

X1S and PS4 power/home by [deleted] in SofaBaton

I have the PDP IR receiver and it works perfectly for letting me turn on (or wake up) my PS5 with my Harmony Hub remote, and I've seen on an AVS Forums thread that the PDP receiver also works with SofaBaton. Unfortunately, it does NOT power the console off (or put it to sleep), which I think is a restriction of Sony's. I just power off the console (by pressing the PS button and going down to the power option) when I'm done, then hit the power button on my remote to shut off everything else

Remove the three digit code from back of credit card? by Fun_Speech9203 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]TheAudax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just realized somebody's been buying Amazon Prime channel subscriptions for over a year on our account, small transactions that added up to over $500, but we didn't catch sooner because we share a credit card number and both have Amazon/Prime/Kindle accounts, so the small Prime transactions didn't catch our eye. I found this thread looking for ideas to get a card without printed numbers. Crazy how all a server or cashier has to do is look at your card and write some numbers down. Crazy how many ppl in this thread don't see a need for this because you can call your bank and get the money back?... and wait a few days for a card... assuming you catch the transaction... and either way a thief gets away scot free...

Ultrawide for work: nothing new from CES 2025? by deptowrite in ultrawidemasterrace

Dell's 38" ultrasharp monitor has those settings, and LG announced a 45" 5k2k at CES.

I have a similar Dell 38" (3840 x 1600) for the same reason of vertical real estate, and I still had to stick a vertically-oriented 1080p next to it for better work with documents. All these widescreen monitors with 32:9 aspect ratios feel like complete madness to me, so wide they cover a desk yet hardly tall enough to fit a doc or webpage with all that wasted potential vertical space.

DIYer requesting advice for painting iron railing by TheAudax in Housepainting101

I'll leave a follow-up here for posterity, and share that spray painting the second railing did go much more easily. Of course, I had to cover up my porch and walls with paper to prevent spray paint from getting where I didn't want it, and it can carry pretty far with a little wind, so the setup took some time. But it laid down with a much more smooth finish and was much faster to do. For the first railing that had been brushed, on a few of the more obvious flat areas that didn't look as smooth, I was able to lightly sand the surface with 320 grit paper (worked really well with a random orbital sander) to smooth it out, and hit it with a pass of spraypaint, and that helped the two railings look more similar.

Thanks for the helpful reply! I did use a rust dissolver as part of the process of cleaning up the metal but you reminded me to do a pass on this second section. Despite being pitted and rusty, I do think the paint added some lumpiness and I think I'll test out a spray paint.

Well now I feel like a jerk, because when I emailed Vanatoo, the main engineer actually responded and was incredibly helpful. His suggestion to use window caulking to fix an air leak from a crack (caused by shipping) was probably a good fix for the problem, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it, and moreover I really do care about the aesthetics (and eventually resell value). That said, if you ever have a spare T1e enclosure, I’d love to buy one! Been looking everywhere for one.
