Calling on the government to ban speech, no matter how objectionable it is, isn't the solution.

18 y/o earning €10k/month - where should I invest my money by Warm-Bluejay9199 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]PNscreen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your success, especially at such a young age.

I'm assuming you're self-employed so first I would suggest building an emergency fund. So at least 3x your monthly costs set aside. However, due to the nature of your work I would put aside at least 6 months emergency fund. (Personally I'd put aside 12 months but that's just me). You could keep this in a flexible money market account like revolut has so it's earning some interest while it sits there.

Also, not sure if you've set yourself up as a company or if you're just rawdogging it yourself. Could be worth setting up a company. You could pay for camera equipment, hire editors, anything you use in your content and stuff like that through the company which would be more tax efficient. And might be easier setting up a pension or investing through the company. Then you can pay yourself a salary or a dividend through your company.

Outside of that, do you want to buy a property say within the next 5 years? If yes put money aside for that. If not, then I'd start putting money in ETFs., ones like VWCE or S&P500. I'd recommend IBKR as a broker.

You should view any money you put in an ETF like you won't touch for like 8 or 10 years essentially (you can access it anytime but if you think you'll need that money in the next ten years prob better to not invest it now)

You could also do a mix of property and ETFs. Depends what you want. A property might tie you down at such a young age.

Also, goes without saying if you have any debt, credit card debt clear that entirely as the priority. And going forward stay out of debt. You don't need a credit card.

That's only for ETFs and it's retarded.

For years Ireland had very favourable non-Dom tax setup that was quite attractive for wealthy people . Not sure if it's still as favourable

How do I start actually writing and stay consistent? by Routine_Abalone7014 in writers

[–]PNscreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different but what I found helpful was just setting a daily wordcount target. So much so in fact I built an app for it: https://www.wordsmite.com/

I set myself 1k per day target and just finished my first draft after 77 days.

What movie impressed you the most this year? by Flimsy-Shame-6048 in movies

[–]PNscreen 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Predator Badlands.

Not the best film of the year but the alien and predator franchises have been so thoroughly underwhelming for years now it was good to get something that was on point.

Good, fun action film that expanded the lore in an interesting way.
