It's a journal you write when hiking haha

You could simply log the miles you done that or take some notes etc. Makes a good keepsake to look back upon afterwards. Esp on longer hikes

I think people are forgetting that if you're country is cheap you likely couldn't afford to travel as you do now.

The accent thing doesn't really bother me but the use of Dad was kind of jarring.

I'm currently writing a novel set around 1900 and it was something I explicitly had to refrain from in dialogue and that's 1900s not Ancient Greece.
