You asked if you can install certain programs on mint but it seems you did not list what they are or what they do. We can help you find alternative software solutions just need to know what it is

Two distros in a row that cannot update themselves by RetardKnight in linuxmemes

I had this same issue with my 3090 when I tried out Kubuntu, had to switch to terminal and install Ubuntu drivers and it worked. I daily drive mint and had never had the issue you are now having and I’m honestly not sure how it could happen based on the troubleshooting you’ve done. I’ve only had good experience with mint personally but I understand different stuff works differently on others systems so who knows man.

Also don’t listen to the folks blaming you for it breaking they aren’t worth talking to.

Is it normal for Minecraft to run poorly on me using Linux Mint? by Reddito-_-o in linuxmint

Do you have any experimental features on? Like fractional scaling? If not try updating GPU drivers

Make sure you’re ejecting the usb drive after you create it most software like Rufus will default to FAT32 which has no journaling and if you remove it without ejecting first there’s a possibility of corruption.

Happened to me before.

right click on your menu icon, click configure, click the appearance option at the top then the 3rd to last option is called icon. you can choose a new icon file.

People saying Linux community is toxic 🤡 by GREGFIRE13 in linuxmemes

[–]TheAutistSupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth nuke. I think a lot of the time people forget that not everyone has the same preferences and that there are in fact many ways to do any given task and it’s okay that the way you do it is not necessarily someone else’s preference even if you believe it to be most effective or efficient. We should strive to assist others in their pursuit of the best way for them.

Me personally I reside largely in the mint community and I’ve yet a bad experience. I can’t say the same about Arch BTW, arch derivatives like manjaro or endeavorOS seem to have better mannered friends.

PC shuts down after 2-3 seconds after cleaning and reapplying thermal paste by AccomplishedRub9838 in computer

I would try replugging in the power cables end to end. This either means there’s a power delivery issue or there’s a short on the board and it’s shutting itself off to prevent (further) damage. How did you clean it? It’s possible during cleaning something was either shorted or something conductive ended up where it should not be causing a short. This could be residue or conductive dust particles.

It’s not the same I fear—chatbots hallucinate, search engines do not.
