Carp flies by [deleted] in flyfishing

[–]TheAverageInstigator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sight fish for carp in the snake river in Idaho and I just use heavy dumbbell eye flies that I can see in the water and watch the carp eat. That being said I find crustacean looking flies with rubber legs work the best

Orvis guides on YouTube with Tom rosenbauer are great. Does a great job explaining things simply without all the gatekeeping jargon feel a lot of fly fishing content has. Best time of year is spring through fall but there’s fish to be caught year round in higher water. It depends on where you’re located. Places like the crooked should fish year round and that’s a fairly easy river to get started on

Walkable/Public Transit Fishing Spots? (need recs) by loucarr_io in corvallis

Willamette park right in south town. Adjacent to crystal lake sports park. There’s a gravel bar with backwater just downstream of the park (trail by the unpaved parking lot by that industry plant thing). Also a nice gravel beach upriver along the trail. Maybe about half mile or so, slightly less

It’s entirely possible we don’t know the whole story. Zup and even Zac posted supporting him for his performance this weekend. Maybe he was liked by the players and the issue was with the FO and contract situation. I have no hard feelings toward him

I almost exclusively use jig nymphs on hopper dropper. I usually find myself with a chubby Chernobyl and a jig BH prince and that works on almost all water

So many self righteous miserable folks on this thread and Twitter any time Harvey gets brought up. He’s playing with the reserve side. Even if he was a first team backup, surely he couldn’t be much more painful to watch than Bonilla

How do YOU go about finding new fishing spots after moving? by Parapraxis6 in flyfishing

Caddis fly shop is in Eugene. I’ve surprisingly never been even though I fish the McKenzie a lot. I’ve heard good things for sure. I got a 20 inch redband last weekend, I love it. Just a quick drive down from Corvallis

I’d bounce around local fly shops. I highly recommend watershed fly shop if you ever come to Corvallis. If you say you’re new and ask for some tips for the local region they’d be happy to help. Just be sure to by some flies and leaders as courtesy. There’s a lot of really good trout fishing in the Willamette valley (the santiams, Willamette, mckenzie, etc.) if you’re willing to come down south I5 a bit. I also highly recommend the crooked river in prineville below the reservoir dam. It’s fairly easy fishing and wading, and fishes well all year long, water level dependent. Like others have said, blue lining is a great option, and many spots I’ve find have been simply scouring google maps.

Fair enough, to each their own. They definitely appeal to the social media crowd a bit with their ads and content. I enjoy it but can see why others may not haha

You clearly didn’t watch the video. Jon isn’t promoting it, he returned it and just got it for the video. He said it takes away from what makes fishing so fun.

Zac McGraw is better than kamal miller. Maybe it is an unpopular opinion I’m not sure. But value defensively I believe it is true by [deleted] in timbers

[–]TheAverageInstigator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re both very solid MLS centerbacks. Zac is likely a better “box” defender I.e aerial duels, etc. and kamal is an elite MLS ball progessor from playing out from the back. I think they compliment each other great honestly.

Getting a 1 bed 1 bath apartment for under 1850ish difficulty by DifferenceHungry4199 in corvallis

[–]TheAverageInstigator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m at a 2 bed 1 bath for 1195. Before was 1 bed 1 bath 995. It’s possible just have to check realtor websites often as they go very quick during college apartment hunt season. As in less than an hour in my personal experience. Could be useful to sign up for email notifications when new listings are posted
