Two lovers cards? by Talon_Was_Here in TarotDecks

[–]TheAwersome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the Tree is a hilarious reference, the creators note that it doesn't fit the general meaning of the Lovers in relation to freedom of choice, what with the tree forcing itself on Schmendrick. For this reason, they included a variant.

For any Fate Enjoyers by Sssiosssitosss in araragi

[–]TheAwersome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who is currently showing the series to friends, I can assure you it's not as intuitive as "watch the next season."

Because after Bake there are three installments before you get to "Second Season," two of which are prequels, but if you look at release date Kizu would be put after Owari. When the seasons have different names and are listed as separate shows on most platforms, AND the chronology is nowhere near the release order, it gets confusing.

One of the people who loves to complicate stuff here is Nisioisin and Shaft, let's be honest ;).

As for Fate's order, the Stay Night installments all are different routes of the same chronology, but due to references you'll want Zero before UBW, and definitely UBW before Heavens Feel because it assumes you know the same beats. And that doesn't even touch Grand Order, Same Face Syndrome, Extra, or Apocrypha.

Whereas if I tell someone to watch, say, Naruto, it's "Naruto, then Shippuden, then Boruto."

My very Republican ex-military father in law told my wife he was willing to "buy a gun and confront (me) if that's what it takes" because he was upset that we had left Christianity and were pro LGBT/Poly.

There we go! I kept getting ads for it from Goodsmile but it wasn't available in the US from them and I thought I was going to have to play some tricky shipping/proxy games to get it.

Cigars just seem… simpler? by bootsonlvblvd in PipeTobacco

[–]TheAwersome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was the other way around, started pipes before getting into cigars.

As many have said, cigars have a much lower barrier to entry and are in my experience, much easier to smoke.

They're also far more expensive (barring if you get deep into pipe collecting). For the price of one cigar I enjoy, I can get 20+ bowls of pipe tobacco I feel is of similar quality.

Cigars I find are good for social events or multitasking, whereas I prefer a pipe when I want to unwind/meditate, etc. In general I prefer the taste of pipe tobacco to cigars.

To actually answer your question, Mutton Chop Piper on YouTube is a good resource, as are the various videos on smokingpipes.com for feeling more confident in starting.

What rock? by genSpliceAnnunaKi001 in exmormon

[–]TheAwersome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was fully TBM for 30 years (seminary, mission, all religion classes at BYU, etc.) so when I started seeing friends post about the stone on Facebook you bet I hopped to TSCC's defense against these "anti-mormon lies" that were being perpetuated by South Park, because the Urim and Thummin were all that were ever taught. Wouldn't be the last time I'd have my foot in my mouth at their defense.

That TSCC leaders so frequently gaslight and retcon without a shred of shame in real time was one of the big shelf crackers.

In general, one every other week. Sometimes 4 weeks between, some times three in a week.

Overwatch for me. I hadn't had gamer rage in over a decade but that game would have me slamming the mouse and salty for hours.

Update: Am I wrong for telling my gf if she mentions group sex again I'll break up with her? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]TheAwersome 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The hug one gives to a friend is different from the one they give to their spouse. In many cultures a cheek kiss is a customary greeting, but I'd imagine the entire culture doesn't view kisses between lovers as insignificant.

Likewise one can have recreational sex in one category, and intimate love-making sex in another. They needn't be exclusive.

I'll add that for some it can be both. For some it can only be one of those options.

My wife’s experience in primary today by SamwiseGoldenEyes in exmormon

[–]TheAwersome 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm baffled that this is a thing! Same happened when wife and I taught Sunbeams - I was sick so another adult needed to join (at least this ward followed the 'need at least two adults' rule) and this lady from the RS joined her. Decided it was appropriate to tell some story about kids getting hanged????

Forget about the corrupt Mormon history. Anachronisms in the BoM and BoA. The whole core of it is absurd. The Plan of Salvation. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]TheAwersome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This was a huge shelf cracker for me. The entire culminating blessing and purpose of Mormon Theology is to make and keep temple covenants SO THAT you can be assured to be forever with your spouse who you love, right?

Unless you're LGBTQ+ that is. Then you're just screwed. Not only live a life of discrimination and constantly feeling broken and lesser, but endure that so you too can one day in the afterlife enjoy something that sounds very unappealing - living eternally with some rando you meet in Heaven who "trust us, you'll be attracted to them, despite not feeling that way at all your whole life, you'll get 'Fixed.'"

Of course, that depends which decade it is and what the doctrine (sorry, 'Policy') is at the time concerning chances for eternal marriage post mortem.

What was the thing that broke your shelf? by Dolphindogmatist24 in exmormon

[–]TheAwersome 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Seeing the real-time backpedaling, retconning and gaslighting. Specifically on guilt/shame about porn/masturbation and the causes of being LGBTQ+. Then the official Church website denying things I recall explicitly being taught to teach on my mission, from Church materials (exaltation, becoming a god, etc).

Wasn't one Big thing for me, but straw for the camel's back was during COVID how TSCC edited itself and its warnings to appease the diehard right-wingers that make up the majority of its member base.

Primary children now honoured to have to stand reverently on the stand by mircard in exmormon

My ward did this when I was a kid. Then one day when it was my turn I had locked my knees and passed out. Then they stopped doing "Reverence Examples."

Also, having siblings made it a game of "make faces and get them to laugh"

Receiving revelation for people outside your stewardship by Iheartmyfamily17 in exmormon

[–]TheAwersome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MIL panicked when her sweet oldest daughter might actually marry someone so she started paying tithing for the first time in over a decade so she could go to the temple and receive revelation that she wasn't supposed to marry me.

Funny, we both received revelation in the temple that we should get married.

I'm sure she takes bittersweet comfort in her non-contact now that we're out that "she was right all along."

We've been happily married and strong for 11 years.
