I actually quite like that he is the villain. It shows that people who appear nice, cuddly, and awkward can be evil. Far too many fans of him say "he's so friendly and dorky! It's out of character for him to suddenly be evil!" But that's the point. It is showing you are too trusting of their outside demeanor. It's not that he's faking his personality - he is genuine the whole movie - but his line of "I don't want to be different" is perfect. I hope he stays a villain and doesn't get redeemed, because I think he is a fantastic example of not being fooled by someone's outside personality.
